As is to be expected on a Prius forum...

There are a good many people here who have some serious issues with the design of the Prius...seats...driving position...rattles...etc.

Very possible, but that doesn't change the fact that those vehicles are on the market and the Prius is not. If you want to consider the Prius in your purchase...then you have to wait until it too is on the market or you will have to select from what is available.

I'd rather have a carmaker wait until they get it right instead of rush the car to production. I've seen the new Insight...I wouldn't trade the Prius I have for it. The new Fusion is great, but its a sedan and we don't need two sedans.

I might buy a Fusion over a Camry...but not a Prius as it wouldn't make sense for our needs. For your information the Fusion Hybrid is designed primarily to compete with the Camry Hybrid.

Since you've made yourself the spelling police (incredibly douch-ey move on a forum BTW), the figure of speech is you "couldn't care less". If you "could care less" it would imply that you do indeed care, and could care less.

The pricing has nothing to do with marketing strategy, the pricing just isn't ready. Carmakers release pricing when vehicles go on sale...the Prius is not on sale.

Darn! I can't spell tragedy... What do I possibly have to add to the community here if I am so stupid I put a J where the G goes in tragedy while quickly typing on the forum? Must be my vast knowledge of the automobile industry over my many years in and around it, and my extensive knowledge of Toyota and their car models. What do you have to add? Self important whining and and a spell check. You win!

Ok... Im going to be the 'mature one' and stop this nonsense because its just going way off subject soooo... lets just focus on Prius and not on me!

Depends who you ask, many are comparing it to the Prius just google "fusion or prius" and you'll see.

Don't agree with you on that point... I agree that the pricing is not ready, but it should've been.

lauren80ryan, normally it's a different issue that polarizes PC members. Here, the crux of the issue is "silly that Toyota is making us wait". I've heard from several, saying (paraphrase) the'll just forget about the dang 2010 then, because the wait gets 'em P.O.'d.
We, the defenders of our beloved geek-mobiles come to the defense, with our counter points saying, "Toyota knows what they're doing, your just a ....." what ever.
    Then we're off and running.
Sometimes the polarizing issue is the Prius driving on ice:

    "this car is worthless"
"no you're just unqualified & don't know how to drive on ice"

Then the thread goes for 2 pages about who is right. Or if you go to FHOP / politics ... same thing ... polarized "views"

"folks on the right are lame"
"no folks on the left are lame"

On & on. I was on the receiving end a few days ago (different forum). Missed a chance to be part of an EV auto event, because it was set up poorly. I complained, & described how the event should have been arranged. The next poster states, "quit your whining" in essence. My feelings get hurt. Now I need to respond, right? But both sides end up posting 2 pages of the 'stuff'. It digresses too easily, with indignance and more. So as Rodney King once said (before he lost his millions), "can't we all learn to get along?".

That's all I'm saying ... be nice ... otherwise, the next flamer gets my official crybaby picture (which NEVER gets served up in the spirit of malice . . . only in the spirit of humor )
    :focus:

I do respect both sides here . . . can I get an amen?

I'm sure thats the case, but common logic would dictate that since the Fusion is designed to compete with the Camry, the hybrid version of the Fusion would be, primarily, designed to compete with the hybrid version of the Camry.

Not a lot of carmakers out there who release pricing 2 months before a model goes on sale, definately not Toyota. I'd say what they do works pretty well for them...being the world's number 1 automaker and all.

Just chill out and wait. What is the hurry to make this decision now. now, now? I just don't see what the harm is in waiting two weeks for pricing and 6 weeks to see and drive the production car before deciding what you will buy? What could the downside be? Really and quite honestly should you decide to buy the Fusion hybrid or the Insight (like I said, I doubt you will buy the Insight, its not of the quality level of the Prius or the Fusion), when the Prius comes out it just might slow demand for them down enough to get a deal on one...

    Johnny,
"If you build it...they will come."
Toyota is building it and the excited crowds are anxiously waiting!! I feel you! My POS I am driving now is driving me crazy. And it will be in high 80s, low 90s in early June where I am and with no real working AC in my current car...I would LIKE to get my Prius before I bake in my Honda!!:D

With that said, though, if they announced pricing and it was the right #s for you, what will you do??? Even if we go in and order before we even see them (since dealers don't get them till May), you won't actually get to drive it home till July anyway. Can you wait that long if you like the car and the price?? I hope so!:)

"Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will land among the stars."
So go for the premium of the hybrids (50mpg), order what you want now!! 99% of dealers that can order one now will probably give you back whatever you put down cause they KNOW they can sell your car when it comes in if you decide you don't want to wait till July. Then you can get your Fusion right away and only regret it when you fill up with twice what I do. :p hehe (teasing voice here)

Aha! The truth comes out! :D

For the record, the issue with your post was that you came across as demanding that things be done at your timetable and insisting that they were going to regret it because they didn't listen to you. I can't resist a statement like that ;)

Had you said what you just said now, or simply "I'm getting tired of waiting" you would not have had this response.

I don't blame you, I'd be the same way. Trust me though, you should wait. The only reason not to is that the itch has got you so bad you can't. Its a big purchase, the second biggest purchase you're probably ever going to make (unless you buy a boat...in which case come talk to me first and I'll tell you why you shouldn't do that either lol), if you bought a Fusion now (get the drift, the Insight is crap) and the Prius comes out and you love it...how are you going to feel when all you had to do was wait a few more weeks?

Hey! Who are you to butt in on this thread!? The OP? Aghh -- Who cares -- pass the ammo!

Sorry, but I might migrate on over to the other thread . . . <he ducks on the way out>:spy:

Actually, though, this thread may be up for an award, because I think it de-volved into the very essence of the thread's title! Well done.

Some folks are getting antsy about whether or not they would like a 2010 Prius - can't decide because pricing is not announced.

If you want a 2010 Prius, you might want to get your name on a serious waiting list ASAP, if any dealers are taking lists.

Even in this rotten economy, the 2010 Prius might be pretty hard to get this late Spring / Summer.

For the Prius buying newbies ... wait times of 3+ months to get a 2008 Prius was common last Summer.

Mate, when it comes to brown nosing, Hill is an amateur compared to me. Check out my posts sunshine! I can suck start a tractor!
I love Toyota vehicles and as far as I'm concerned they can do no wrong. Hell, I even bought the Toyota Tercel station wagon!!
    I only own 5 Toyotas currently. I don't shop for a car, I shop for a Toyota.
I'm not alone, after all they are more successful than any other car company in the world! This single fact tells me they know how to manage the marketing of their products. Of course the fact they aren't the longest established car company should drive this fact home in even the thickest head. I'm guessing Toyota have been marketing cars longer and more successfully than you.

I had my name on one list that the dealer said would get me a car within 13 months. Another dealer just laughed, saying he had more names on his list than cars he expected to get in more than one year's worth of shipments -- all Toyotas, not just the Prius!

I forgot about trying to just get on a list, and I told the dealer I would buy only the specific car I wanted to order. The dealer said "OK." Whether they really were able to do this or not, I'm doubting, but the dealer did give me a particular VIN as soon as he had his monthly list of incoming cars from Seattle or LA (whichever place they were then landing). That wait was only about 5 or 6 months -- and I didn't pay for any dealer or port add-ons. Still, I paid only barely under MSRP.
