    8) Troy and Danny,

I wish to thank you both for the excellent PriusChat discount offered by Troy.

Super easy, only 2 cc: mails, mailed him the $985.00 cashiers check and everything was done. What more can you ask for with this type of service.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.
I have contacted Troy, and he is great to work with. I'll definitely get this too (deciding between the 7/75K and the 7/100K, as my driving demands will not be too great) when I get my Prius in a few weeks.

Thank You Troy & Danny for the extended warranty on PriusChat at such a discount. My dealer would only come down to $1400.00 for the 7 year 100,000 mile extended warrently. It was easy to purchase the extended warranty.

Has anyone had to use the Extended Warranty?

Just wondering what anyone's experience has been with the Extended Warranty, and if they have any idea of what the repair would have been without it? Was it the Extended Warranty offered here? Did the dealer have any problem accepting it for doing the repairs?

    Thanks,
    Steve

I just received my extended warranty from Toyota. Thanks to Troy and Danny for the extended warranty discount. I would recommend purchasing from Troy if you are interested and want the discount without any hassle. The transaction was very easy.

Good question, Steve. I'd like to hear if any Florida residents have had a problem with the Toyota dealer accepting the EW. Florida's laws are weird in that if we purchase an EW through our dealer it must be a third-party, state-approved insurer...

Floridians: Please let us know your experiences...

Is the top level post kept up to date (current price/offers), or do I really need to read through all 15+ pages of this topic to see the latest? (I was lazy -- reading the first and last pages ;-)

Highly recommend Troy Dietrich of Greenfield Toyota for the excellent service in obtaining extended warranties for our new 05 Prius and 05 Highlander vehicles. He took the time to answer questions and replied to our emails promptly.

Thanks, Troy! Just got the Toyota contract today, better and cheaper than the one I got from the dealer originally, and saved myself three payments on the car! Hell though...if I'd known about this sooner, there's a chance I might have been able to get the BC package I wanted!

Re: Toyota Service Contracts / Extended Warranty - Discounte

Just picked up my 05 Prius Friday. I took a pass on the extended warranty offer from the dealer after reading about the various competitive pricing available and the matter of buying it during the 3yr/36k period. He offerred 10% off retail price, which still put it way up there, above and beyond most of the prices I see mentioned here.

Here's the kicker, when I mentioned about the competitive rates that I read at various websites, he sneered and wrote it off as people BS'ing in an effort to outdo each others low-cost price find (which he said is all too easy since they're behind a computer screen). Can you believe that? LOL. After he said that, I was definitely not going to buy it. Shame too, since overall the other folks at the dealership were pretty good.

He also gave me the impression that if I didn't buy it right then and there, what was available to me later would not be as comprehensive as the Platinum plan he was selling. I assume this isn't true.

Can somone recommend a good warranty provider in NJ?? Thanks

Read the very first message in this thread. It will instruct you how to buy the extended coverage from a reputable Toyota dealer at a substantial discount from MSRP.

to Danny or anyone else that can answer....

This warranty deal sounds too good to be true, thou I suppose
it really isn't, since it appears that many are taking you up on the
offer. My reason for saying this, is, I paid $2200.00 for a
6y/100k on a 2005 prius, which I just cancelled having read
about this offer. The dealer said the dealer cost of the warranty I
just canceled was $1500.00, that it would cost me $3000.00 to get
it back, and wished me luck in finding a better deal.
He also said that the Platinum was the only warranty
you could get with a Prius, and that if you dont get your oil
changes at the dealership, it will void the warranty. Is there
any truth to these statements or just smoke?

I want to purchase the deal you have listed here, but with everything
I have heard from the dealer, I am left thinking either the dealer
is full of deception, or there is something in the fine print of this
deal you are offering that makes a huge difference compared with
the warranty I just canceled from the dealership.

Re: Toyota Service Contracts / Extended Warranty - Discounte

Contact Troy. He *is* a Toyota dealer. Think of the warranties he sells as buying in bulk. He sells a LOT of them. The warranty from him *is* the Toyota Platinum warranty. Same thing your dealer was selling only no markup. And you can get 7 year/ 100,000 for under $1000 and $0 deductible.

Your dealer wants you to buy from him because that's where they really make their money. If you finance the warranty through them they make even more.

Did you trade in your old car? That's another way dealer's make money. They offer you half what it's worth and then sell it for twice as much.

I'm wary of dealer financing as well. While it may appear to be a lower rate, my credit union has a fixed rate while sometimes the dealership has an adjustable rate. Also, they might just tell you your month payment and it seems lower than your bank, only your bank loan is 4 years and the dealership is 5 years....so in the end you pay more because you've paid an extra year of interest.

Contact Troy. Talk to him. Plenty of us have purchased extended warranties from him. That should tell you something.

It's AMAZING how much some dealers try to sell these warranties for. Thank God there's only a few, but they make the honest dealers look bad.

PS. I always finance through the dealer. Usually they're rate is cheaper than going thru the bank and A LOT less hassle. I'm happy to let them make their cut on the loan especially if they give me a good deal on the car.

Actually, it's cheaper to do your research first before you go into the dealership armed with a cheap financing deal already from the credit union with the best rates you can get into. I checked my local CUs, AAA, and some local banks first.

This way, they don't have you over the barrel, or as fish in a barrel, when you deal.

I went in with my CU's rate, and came out with an even lower CU rate through Kinecta] 4.49% because they were forced to beat my rate to get some financing business.

I guess it's because I'm self employed but the banks always treat me like dirt and make you jump thru hoops to get a loan. The dealers get me a good rate and financed in 5 seconds. They always say"boy you got great credit" and the banks say"ewwww your self employed show me your last 3 years tax returns". I'll stick with the dealers.

I went to a toyota dealer the other day to test drive a camry, and someone had just dropped out on their deposit for a salsa red 2005 prius with pkg 4. I had to buy it. I went home, got some money, got my wife who's 8 1/2 weeks pregnant and my 3 yr old autistic son. we waited 2 hours to see the finance guy. My son was running all over the place and my wife was tired. I signed papers left and right. when I got home the next day I noticed a $2200 charge for extra care 6 years, 75,000 miles, a $395 charge for tire service ( which was included in the dealer installed options, and a $425 charge for autocare? and also $595 gap coverage. I need to cancel extra care, and do I need the other two as well. I didn't even know that this was an extended warranty. I thought it was part of the financing plan. I'm so angry. what can I do?
