I'm looking at used 2007 pkg 3 with about 35K miles on it. It's at a dealer and "certified". He wants 19,995. Going to test drive it tomorrow and hopefully get him down to 19K. Can anyone tell me if there are any differences between the 07 and the 08-09?

    Thanks
    Tom

I can't answer the year difference but the price seems high to me. There is someone selling one here for less and and my new 09 was $23,400 out the door a month ago. Pkg 2 not 3 but with the 10 coming out you should be able to get one cheap soon.

There really are no major differences between the 06 - 09.

Down here in New York City, I see a dealer advertising a 2009, Package 3 for $20,900 (taking into account cash back) + destination + tags + tax.

Which dealer in NYC was it?
    Thanks

One of the dealers in the Bronx. Don't remember the name. It advertises in the back/sports pages of the NY Daily News, though I haven't seen its ad in the last few days. Its ad that included the Prius at the $20,900 price was running for a couple of weeks this month.

If the advertised price of $20,900 was legit, that would be about $1000 below the dealer's invoice price (even after taking into account the cash back promotion). I have no idea if it's legit ... could be bait and switch or other shenanigans. But I believe others here have reported paying about the same.

If I see the ad again (it's not in today's NY Daily News), I'll pm you.

In any event, don't hesitate to push hard on pricing for either a used or new car. If I were buying a new car now, I wouldn't pay the dealer more than its dealer's invoice price (I'm sure everyone, including Toyota dealers, are getting holdbacks from the automaker).

    Good luck.

EDIT: Another possibility is that the dealer was in fact advertising for a Package 2 (it advertised a MSRP of well over $24,000, which I interpreted as excluding destination charge so I concluded that it was a Package 3).

    trinck,

The ad is running again in today's NY Daily News.

The dealer is City World Toyota (cityworldtoyota.com, (888) 258-4341, 3333 Boston Road, Bronx, NY).

It's $20,999 + Tax + Tags for a new 2009 Prius Package #2 or #3. I can't tell the exact Package # from the ad because the ad's stated MSRP of $24,469 doesn't exactly match the MSRPs (w/ or w/o destination) I see on edmunds.com, but it's closer to Package #3. I also cannot tell if the advertised price of $20,999 takes into account the current $1000 cash back.

In any event, attached below is a copy of the ad. Good luck.

That is the price taking into account the $1000 rebate. The car would be sold for $21,999 - $1000 rebate plus all the other fees/taxes.

Good price for a package 3.

I guess it would also be a decent price for a package 2 which edmunds.com shows as having a dealer invoice price of $21,916 (not counting the cash back).

But I wonder if business is so bad now that people can buy the 2009 Prius below dealer's invoice.

That sounds high and is about what dealers in the Seattle area try to get for a much lower package (2 or 3). I got mine on Ebay in March, it's an 07 with 30,000 miles, package SIX, for 16,600......heckuva deal. Flew to KY and picked it up, drove it home, awesome/fun road trip w/the hub. So much fun. ZERO problems so far and it's everything that was advertised. Have you considered Ebay? Not for everybody, but if you are willing/able, can be VERY worth your time. Just a thought. Good Luck!
