Its embarrassing. It just chirps as I pass through the detector..it does it at targets, wal greens, and various other stores. Walmart it does not happen for whatever reason.

the funny thing is I only started noticing this strange phenom the past few months.

does this happen to anyone else?

generally the store employee's do nothing because the alarm is not actually set off..just a few beeps as I pass through and strange looks sometimes. It's so bad I actually raise my arm as high as possible now when going through one to try and bypass the beams.

Pay for your items before you leave the store ... problem solved.

Some of the store alarm systems may not be able to distinguish between a simple absorption security tag and the receiver circuitry in the fob. If you get some response but no actual alarm its probably because the system detects the fob but isn't sure its a tag. Complain to the store(s) that they should buy a decent system!

Never had this happen. I carry my fob always when away from home, so I know I've gone through many anti-theft systems with it.

it's not that big of a deal honestly, most of the employee's near the entrance just look over then go about their business. It has happended in several places.

Walgreens, target, CVS, Lowes. Not that this matters..whomever supplies the scanners is at fault obviously, they are just to sensitive.

Im not going to complain to management over something trivial. I was just curious if others had experienced this.

and from doing a quick search(which I should have done first)..there is another thread with a member on here complaining of the same issue.

Toyota is not the only car maker doing the RF fobs now, so Im sure it's actually quite common with certain detectors.

You can always try my approach of peeling off security tags and dropping them into other shoppers' bags. The resulting cacophony of alarms will mask the chirp coming from you. :D

That's strange, I went through the same stores: Walgreens, target, CVS, Lowes with my SKS fob and never had issues....is it just the Vegas thing? :D

Or, you could be one of those rare human Malfunction Magnets. Try walking through a detector without the fob.

If the detector still chirps, keep removing your keys, wallet, clothing, etc, until you're bare but still setting off the fob. That would prove my Malfunction Magnet theory
