2009 Green Grand Prix - Are You Going?

    PriusChat has been represented pretty well over the last few years at the Green Grand Prix, and hopefully this year will see even more PriusChatters show up. For those of you who have never heard of the Green Grand Prix, here's some information from their website: "The Green Grand Prix is an educational and competitive event in Watkins Glen, NY including the only Official SCCA Time-Speed-Distance Road Rally for Hybrid and Alternate Fuel Vehicles in North America. Our Road Rally is sponsored by THE DORIS BOVEE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION. Doris Bovee was an environmental enthusiast and our road rally is a tribute to her." DORIS BOVEE MEMORIAL ROAD RALLY: - Full SCCA Time-Speed-Distance road rally - Alternate fuel as well as gasoline and diesel vehicles encouraged - Starts at 10:30 A.M. from IMRRC at 610 S.     I'll be there in the afternoon. Unable to race but I'll be checking out the exhibits. Watkins Glen is a great place to visit. Should be a nice day. In previous years they've had an educational component, with speakers on alternative fules (such as switch grass) but I don't see anything about that sort of program this year.

    I went. Saw a few people from Priuschat, one other Hymotion PHEV too. I ran the Fuel economy run. ~80 Mi around Seneca Lake, with my spare tire that I don't normally carry and a required passenger. My MFD Showed 71.0 MPG for the run. Although the gas fillup was 1.33 gal. Darn Bladder ;) It was a nice day. Nice to see the extensive involement with the surrounding school districts.
