Just wondering what one might expect for trade in on a 07 Prius package 2 closing in on 40k miles. Could use a detail otherwise in
very good condition. I was told at a dealer in the East TN area
that I could expect around 12,500. I thought that seemed low
particularly as Edmunds states that it should be closer to 16k.

Please forgive if this has been discussed.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Edmunds and KBB can vary by $1-2k. I'm not sure where most dealers track between the two, but it depends on the dealer.

Once my 2002 is appraised, I'll let folks know which is "closer" for my scenario.

Sell it private party on craigslist. I just sold my 07 base, no frills with 51,000 miles on craigslist for $14,200 and it sold in 2 days. You have time to sell it now. Rent a car for a week or 2 if u have to. We had an extra vehicle so driving my husband's car now :) Definitely get more private and ez on craigslist. They go fast. That way u can afford the sunrrof!

The trade range given matches that national transaction history that I can see. The other comment about a private sale is also accurate.

If I was selling you a Prius, I'd range your trade in the $12ks up to low $13s depending on the incentives that Toyota rolls out. The rumon in the Chicago Region is that we're going to see 0% for 60 months or a $1,000 cash rebate. This may lower trade values on the '05-'08 Prius that are going to be traded in for the '10s and '09s. It will not be a huge decrease but maybe it'll be 5-10%?

At anyrate, I think the trade value offered is fair, it never hurts to ask for more of course.

    Good luck and happy ordering!

The bottom has dropped out on Prius trade in values. Granted my 08 has high miles but the $10,500. I was quoted by 3 dealers is crazy. None of the dealers i visited had any interest in taking mine in trade for the 2010 i have coming in.

Same here, tried to trade my 07 with 15,000 miles for a new 09 touring at two different dealerships and both wanted over $12,000 difference.

same here. i have a 2009 touring pkg 6 with only 2000 miles and they are only giving me $20,000 for it. but, i get tax savings. i will just keep it. i was just curious what i could get for it since i have a 2010 on order. but, looks like i will cancel it.

Thanks all for the responses. Think I will give craigslist a shot
once the expected arrival date draws nearer. What a drag though.
    I was expecting around 15kish.

LOL, just noticed I put a 4 instead of a $ and changed it. And you thought I was smart? :)

Sounds like I did ok for selling my 07 base, yes base, no frills with 51k for $14,200. I tho ught it was a bit low but now feel really good. Definitely put it on craigslist and its free. Like I said, it sold in 2 days. I am in Oregon so not sure if that helped. We are all green up here because we never see sun!
