I thought that the ratios will continue to be different but that the steering software on the 15s will be changed to give a similar taut "Euro" feel. Also the "Euro" shocks will be used on both.

I hope there's some truth in that because I'd love a simple ECU flash to make my steering like later production.

I thought there was still a question as to whether this could be done with software only. PriusTeam wasn't sure yet, and someone else suggested different physical gearing might be needed.

I'm assuming there won't be a stock hitch on the 2010's right?

    I doubt that.
    The payload is only 800lbs.

I found if I have 4 people in the car with is approx 800lbs, no problem.
But I have a certain cousin thats quite a bit more than the average allotted 200lbs per person when she is in the car I bottom out backing out of my driveway.
And my driveway is actually pretty gradual where it crests and drops.

Air foil is such a concern I guess thats the way it goes!

Maybe I need to get hydralics!

I want to get a 2010 with "all the bells and whistles." I'd like to preorder the V, but I see that you can't get the SOLAR ROOF with it. The only difference between the IV and V iare the wheels and headlamps, right?

So, preferring the solar roof to the upgraded headlamps, I guess I'll have to order the IV.

    DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?

Many of us are in the same boat. I'd love the V package but want the Moonroof more than the LED lamps and bigger wheels

You know [almost] all what your problem is? You're spoiled kids!

Come to Europe, come to Portugal, have only 2 packages to choose from, YES TWO! and then come back and say what you think about having at least 10! packages made available there.

Doug, please leave the US, come to Europe, these guys are not worthy of you! All you can do is complain complain complain... oh man! Stop it already!

What the heck do you want? Toyota to call you, or to visit you at home and let you specify your car on every single detail? Do you really think that would allow Toyota to survive and be profitable these days?

If you like the car, if you like the concept, just buy it and shut up. If you don't like it, go buy something else. Just stop bitching like kids, you are never pleased no matter how hard Doug and Toyota USA tries!

The owner's manual specifically states that the Prius is not designed for towing OR hitch mounted cargo carriers.

This is an "addition" to just "should not tow" of the previous generations.

Wow.. you guys are spoiled lol.

Our Venza comes in FWD or AWD, 4 or 6 cylinder. You can either buy that or (with AWD models) upgrade to one package. V6 AWD has 3 packages and is the only one with navigation and JBL at $40k. No SKS unless you pay $37k. The Venza starts at $27k. All prices quoted in CAD.

I'd say we (Americans, that is) really are spoiled. We've come to expect the ability to order a car built to our specific demands. How else would we view things after having been given such options for two generations?

The real problem arises when such expectations meet the reality of automakers who cannot continue to exist when they allow such "freedom" of ordering. The costs are not too high to produce cars this way, it is just that the consumer is no longer willing to pay for it.

It used to be that the offer of enough dollars would get you just what you wanted. Well, I suppose that is still the reality. The problem is that while each of us likely could order each of the specific features desired, we probably would not want to pay the parts price plus the cost of alteration to have it installed. After all, this is why "factory options" became so popular. It was cheaper to have it installed at the factory during original construction. Today, the profitable companies have decided that it is too costly to allow such differentiation at the plant, because it requires too much time, too many people, to many "options" for things to go wrong on the quality end of things, . . .

I am confused. I just received an email from Toyota with a link to a video "New Prius Comes out to Play" (i cannot post the link)

It shows a model with both LED headlamps/parking assist AND a moon roof.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

From what I understand they teased everyone by putting all the features in the prototypes only.

No they have not. I received the very same email, the model shown does not have LED headlamps.

Its always a game of psychology as to how to raise the price without raising the goods produced so as to increase the profit.
It happens in many markets, They don't lower prices as to set a lower sales price precedence, instead the offer incentives and sales and rebates.

Or in this case, offer more service and options for a higher price, then pull those options later and keep the price up!
I even see it at the hamburger joints like Burger King etc.

Or, if the price will not go up, they add the charge after the fact for something that was normally buried in the purchase price.

But your right.. the bottom line is if you don't like the deal, walk away. That's the free enterprise system. "Milking the market"

Whats even better and the real trick is to see if you can make the consumer pay more without them "realizing" they are paying more!
Make them think they are walking away with a sweet deal when they are not.

    Example:
You buy a car with a basic price of 20K car and get 5K cash back because the real market will not buy at the 20K price so they have to offer incentives.

You walk away from the dealer owning a car thats worth 15K while still on the lot but you now owe 20K!.. your already upside down in your loan before you leave the lot!

But wait!, once you leave the lot, the value drops another 3K, now your car is worth 13K and you still owe 20K.
Opps, not to mention the 3K worth of dealer fees and TT&L you also finance into your loan, now your car is only worth half of what you owe! LOL!
If you had to sell the car tomorrow, your screwed!

And we wonder why the economy is messed up?

Because we are stupid and would rather take a carrot now and that sets a precedence of advertising and marketing.

What can anyone tell me about the back seat?
They changed the seats in the front are the back the same as 09?
How comfortable are your passengers in back for long & short hauls?

I am an eagerly awaiting client who hopes my savings doesn't run out before the car comes out!

Also there was no yellow in the email notice of colors! (cry!)
