I just completed 3000 mile round trip from Northern NY to Florida and back and only saw one other Prius . the other Prius driver looked as excited as i was to see another Prius (this was on Rt. 81 in VA)
By the way, I averaged 46.6 mpg on the trip. I now have 5000 on the car and am averaging 48 mpg.
I have no questions, but just have to express how much I love this car (2005 silver Prius pkg 6)
    :D

You need to swing through DC metro area!!! I can't go 3 miles without seeing a Prius Generation 1 or 2 any day of the week. On my daily commute to DC I usually see between 5-15 Prius each way.

BTW, this morning on the way to work I saw a women in a Gen 1 Prius try to cut around another car and managed to scrape the rear door and bumper of the other car. All to get about 3 car lengths ahead! :cussing: Guess we are smart buyers, but not always smart drivers. :|

When I got my car three weeks ago, I didn't know of any others in my immediate neighborhood. Since then, I've seen three others on a regular basis. I didn't know that there were so many smart people around here!

You don't even need to go to major metropolitan areas like Washington DC to see a lot of them. Around Chapel Hill/Carrboro and Durham in North Carolina I'm starting to see at least a dozen or more every day and even those seem to be breeding like rabbits!!

Out here on the west coast, there are a lot more. I litterally see a dozen or more on a daily basis.

Indeed. A Prius in the west, even the PNW, is nothing new.

When I got my Prius two weeks ago I though I could unite with other owners in my area (Puget Sound).

I'm pretty sure they just think I'm weird for waving and shouting "Nice carrr."

If only I could stay awake during my trips to and from work, I'd be more likely to see a Prius parked near the commuter rail stations. By now you have realized (I hope) that I am a non-driver during work hours.

So my best chance to see a Prius is while walking to and from lunch. In downtown Chicago, this means I will see at least one Prius a week during lunch and another at other times.

The highlight of my recent Prius spotting was the custom seat covers I saw on a new Prius visiting Chicago from Peru (Illinois). This was a Tideland Pearl Prius, with Electric Blue seat covers. Streaking up each side of each seat back was a white flame.

[Edit: Days later, I remembered a matching blue steering wheel cover.]

It drew me closer - mainly to see if the driver had gotten a ticket yet (as rush hour was beginning, other cars had left the parking spaces on that street). No ticket, so I thought maybe some type of public official had parked there and left a signal by hanging a blue police-type vest over the seats (usually this is done with an orange or lime/gray vest). Then I saw the seats were more or less permanently covered.

Thanks for the fashion glimpse from central Illinois!

I had my first quadruple sighting the other day, where I drove by 4 different Prius while the same song was still playing (in other words, within 4 minutes).

11 is my record for most in a day (excluding gatherings).

In Connecticut, most people I talk to don't even know what a Prius is! Since our allocation quantities are low, they haven't been flooding the state

    but. . . .

I did see one today on my way into work. Typically I see them once every two or three weeks.

    and. . .

And at last week's earthday celebration, I actually saw two of them in the parking lot.

My daughter has a 2003 Prius which I see regularly. I've seen another Prius here in the DFW area, one time - a white '04/'05.

In Tulsa recently I've seen a Driftwood Pearl '04/'05, actually managed to see that one twice.

The population is definitely increasing. Right after I got mine, I could go months without seeing another one. Lately I've been averaging seeing 1 or 2 a day, but sometimes as many as 3 or 4 a day. One time I even had 3 others in view from mine at the same time.

I've noticed a couple here & there around Rochester, NY. The other day I came to a 4-way stop at the same time as another Prius and got a smile & a wave. :)

have to agree with Oly 57mpg here. last year when i first got my Prius, there were half a dozen i saw, mostly classics. now, i see dozens a day. dont bother to count them any more.

about two weeks ago, i was headed to the Chehalis Western bike trail to walk the doggie with a friend. we have to walk about a ¼ mile down the street to get there. just for kicks we thought we would count the number of Priuses going by as the street was a major throughfare and has heavy traffic nearly all the time. on the way there we only saw 3... two were in a parking lot and one is there regularly so... i knew it was there (a white classic) but on the way back we saw 11 including hdrygas.

another thing, out of the 11 we saw, 5 had temp plates on em still. all this was on a 10 minute walk. i will say one thing though. the friend i was with swears up and down that the same Prius passed us 3 times... so i dont know...maybe...

Very true, but they do seem to be increasing in number. I drive from Milford to Hartford every day (55 miles each way, which is why I got the Prius in the first place!) and I see about two per week. I always wave, and am usually pleasantly surprised at the response. So if you see a black '05 on 15 or 91, say hi to me!

The most fun, though, is at the gas station. Invariably someone will ask, "So what kind of mileage do you get with that?" Then others will join in. I admit it, I love the attention!

In the 6 weeks and 3k miles since I've ownd my Prius I have seen only one other. It was on I-40 near Asheville.

Reminds me of when I got my '98 Audi A4. I could go for weeks without seeing another Audi. Now, they have become very popular and I see many every day.
