When I got into my Prius today, instead of showing the song name & title
the display is blank and the word "ANTENNA" flashes at the top left. I
have the integrated XM kit from Coastaltech and I had it installed
professionally at Best Buy. Oh yeah, and I still get perfect reception - the
music is loud and clear and I get all the channels. Has anyone else had
this problem? I hope the unit isn't bad.

    Thanks,

    Rey

I'm sure someone will pop in with the answer to this one but here's what I know:

On my Roady2, there's a menu choice on it called 'Antenna.' Since the Roady can be used in the home, one uses this option to aim the antenna. There's bars or something that appear on the screen to show the signal strength in order to aim the antenna for the best reception. Here's a guess, but maybe the Solara radio that you purchased from Coastal has that menu option and is still stuck in that mode. IF so, the trick is to find out how to get out of it. I'd suggest dropping an email to Jon at priusxm.com as he may know or your Toyota service dept. if no one here comes up with the answer....

    good luck,

Hmmm, I have a similar, but different problem. I had the "antenna" message a few times, but did NOT have any reception. Reception kept on going on and off, then finally off all the time.

I made sure the connections were good, but it didn't help. I called Eddie @ Metro Toyota where I bought it, and he sent me a new antenna which arrived yesterday to try that out.

But during the time the new antenna was being shipped, it suddenly started working again. So I'm not sure if it was loose connections after all. I'm gonna wait a few days before trying the new antenna.

Thanks for the replies bobc and nmrickie - has anyone else had a similar problem? I also checked the atenna connection into the unit and the connection is good.

    The Answer

So I spoke with Coastal Dave yesterday and he said that it's the tuner - because the antenna either goes bad or it doesn't - so you either get reception or you don't.

I wonder if it's my tuner. After working for a couple of days, the "antenna" message came back. I immediately plugged in the other antenna that Eddie Bell sent me and it worked again. So I guess I'll wait and see if I have the same problem with the new antenna.
