You should have destroyed the carpet mats and then left them there. They probably just picked them up and put the mats up for sale in the parts department.

When Toyota calls for the new purchase survey mention how nice they were with the mats. Also let them know that you will do service elsewhere.:mad:

The actually are on the window stickers with a CF option code. Whether they are or not put in the vehicle in port is beside the point. I will agree with you in that it is just plain good customer service to accomodate buyers in that regards.

That's a different issue, and your point is well taken. There are laws outlawing such bait-and-switch practices in many states. Threaten to sic the AG on them.

Can you really blame them? In this economy, when the dealers get a car that's actually selling, they've got to milk it for all it's worth. Not to worry, just wait a few months. If you live in a competitive market, somebody's gonna get hungry and start undercutting.

One of the quotes I received near Seattle had BOTH the $200 carpeted mats and the $199 rubber mats. Along with two grand of other unwanted stuff.

From reading most of the threads on the 2010 it appears that various areas of the country are adding port options. In Arizona it might be tinted windows (at an exorbitant price) while in southern California it's rear bumper applique, floor mats, & security system.

I understand people being against paying MSRP but if you want something, & can afford it, go for it.

These options are being added in the port. My dealer in Santa Barbara had no choice in these additions.

I just paid for mine. Now I have to wait until it is delivered to the dealer.

FYI - I just put a deposit on one in Arizona without window tint! If you want this dealer to tint the windows they will do it, but they are charging $285, not $432.

While these are being added at the port, it became obvious to me that they are being added at the request of each local individual dealer. The highest required option pack ($2439) and lowest ($200) I found were on the same street, just 12 miles apart.

Fuzzy1 - If that's the case then you are probably right. I thought it was an Toyota area distributorship. But I was just guessing. I wish mine didn't come with the security system but I can live with it.

    Thanks for the enlightenment. :)

I run into this all the time. Most dealers do it because most buyers will not challenge it. I've purchased cars with stuff added when I said I don't want those features and will go somewhere else and buy a car without it. Use that line and they'll surely knock the price completely off the final sale. Their potatoes are in the purchase. Window tint, and stuff like that is just gavy for them.

I just ordered the accessory 4 piece all weather floor mats - $99, AND the all weather cargo mat - $86, for a total of $185.[IMG]

I was quoted a $130 to tint the 2010 Prius by a Toyota dealer in Chandler.

Wow!! The Sales Manager (or A sales manager) had to agree to the deal. To think they wouldn't recognize you as a great customer or even look in there sytem to check!! If that is the way the dealership handles customers who've given them so much business, they are in trouble. If you have the heart, it would be somewhat noble to let them know why you'll not walk in there again.

Hi Steve. Which dealer in Chandler? I was quoted $432 and mandatory in Chandler, but Mesa said not mandatory and would tint it for $285 if I wanted it! Thanks.

Interesting, it was Paul Bunsick at Big Two who quoted me the mandatory $432! Okay with you if I use your info to negotiate with Paul? I won't do it unless you give me the okay.
