In the past week I have seen two very dark grey metallic prius around Littleton Colorado...has anyone else witnessed this color ar did they do some custom paint change? Looks very cool, a graphite look to it.
    Anyone?

Tideland can look like that in certain conditions.

Yes I have seen some Tidelands that look greyish, but this was defintely a different hue...I did look at the toyota site and the color was not there, so...

I'm willing to bet they were Tidelands, even when Tony (another chicagoland tideland owner) and I had ours parked next to each other, people were asking if we were sure they got the same color. They can look really green or really gray, or any intermeadiary inbetween.

Yes that is the Tideland. It is much lighter and greener on the website. I thought I wanted that color but when I saw it in person I didn't like it.

So, yesterday, I got a Driftwood Pearl with #3!

Still getting used to it. I love this site and all the tips. I will be spending lots of time here.

Well, 2005 is the last year they'll make a Tideland. The replacement is some gunmetal gray for at least 2006.

How about a poll for which colors do YOU want to see Toyota make as an option on the Prius?

I vote midnight blue, forest green, or beetle neon green.

I love my Driftwood Pearl. I would rather NOT wash my car every week, and this color seems to be a pretty close match for our local road film, terra firma. So it doesn't show that it needs a wash as badly as other cars I have owned.

    Red VW Squareback
    Dark Blue Monte Carlo
Dark Blue Toyota P/U (200K Miles)
    Red Integra (240K Miles)
    Red RSX Type S
    Brown Blazer

I definitely think "LOW MAINTENANCE" when I think about cosmetics.

Except my tideland looks better than Matt's tideland!

    :-D

Seriously though, while giving a couple guys at work the once-over of the car, the sun hid behind some clouds. That change in ambient light made one of the guys declare that the car had just changed colors.

And don't use the web site for Tideland guidance. In fact, one of the reasons I got Priapus ahead of schedule was because people would go to the website to choose their color and no one wanted a car the color of what the website shows as tideland.

My prius is a Tideland, and I ordered it because I actually DID want the color on the website, which is not even close in real life. My husband has an Audi TT in the dark grey/gunmetal color and its a pretty close match to the Prius. I didn't actually see the green in the paint the day we picked it up until we got it home and I saw it next to the TT.

Was there a greener color for 2004? I swear I saw a truly green new Prius before I ordered mine. It was a funny light green color, but I liked it and I've never seen anything like it again.

Mark, I think you are just seeing the Tideland in a different light... my barber has one and in the time it takes to get a haircut his goes from gray to green and back...

This is a UNIQUE shop.. there are at least four Prius owners who are haircut customers as well... we have managed to have three Prii parked in front of his shop at one time... he says if we get all four there, he might change the name of the shop... PriusLand Barber...haha

No, they just made the 2005 swatch more accurate than the 04. The 04 was totally off, and like you said, was a light green colour. The 2005 swatch closely resembles Tideland Pearl. The problem with these colours is that it's hard to reproduce it on computer (at least that's my impression)

OK...you may all be correct. Really wish they would make a nice graphite/gum metal type color. I am way too cheap to get a paint job at this point! Hey Bob, where do you get your haircut...pretty amazing statistically that there are that many pri owners!

Am seeing many more pri than in months past which is a good sign, although I do miss that unique feeling of being unique...

Next time you need a hair cut let me know and we'll go together... he gives a pretty good haircut and his Prius is parked by the door.. he talks Prius to everyone in the shop and he loves to talk... so if you are waiting or getting the cut you have to listen... yesterday I pointed out that he hadn't changed his Prius calendar.. he stopped cutting a guys hair and went over got the calendar and showed everyone in the place all the pictures... you as a customer JUST have to go out and buy a Prius as self defence.. I made Prius cards for him..
