There's going to be some sort of 'associates' sale/rebate coming up on May 19th, where the TripleTreds will be $91 before rebate and $71 after. Not sure how I'll qualify as an 'associate', but the dealer said it's a coupon to mail in.

That, plus the already lower total-installed cost versus any Hydroedge dealer even with the Michelin $50 mail-in rebate, makes me ask how it's going for anyone already using the TribleTred.

How's it going? Similar 1-2MPG drop like Hydroedge? Worse? Better?...

The Prius is delivered with Goodyear Integrity tires, and the excellent point about them is the Low Rolling Resistance (LRR for those tire experts) rating. (that is the end of the good points, they transmit every road vibration, loosen up the body into a series of rattles and actually slide on dry pavement on me)

Therefore, any tire that does not have a comparable LRR rating must lower the MPG to some degree.

There is one rave review of the Triple Treads on this site, a number of highly satisfied users of the Hydroedge, and some very happy Goodyear Comfortred users.

Where I live, snow is a rarity, so those road conditions were not a factor in my decision in buying better tires. I am very pleased with my Comfortreds. However, if I lived in an area where snow conditions were an annual event then I may recommend checking the user feedbacks on Tire Rack for those conditions for a particular tire. In using the Tire Rack feedbacks, always look only at Toyota users to get the best possible apples to apples comparison.

Do not be afraid of a 1 or 2 MPG loss. Be afraid of a 6 -8 MPG loss, which is what I had when I put on Bridgestone Turanza's that the sales guy sold me on when I called to order Comfortreds. I had an immediate drop in MPG from 47/46 to 40. Sent them back under the 30 day full refund period, got Comfortreds, got 45 MPG.

But nearing 10,000 miles now, the car MPG's have jumped considerably, to 48/50. It is just now breaking in it seems.

We have had Goodyear TT's on for about 9.000 mi. Seems to have taken a 2-3 MPG hit but hard to tell because of difference in ambient temperatures we from when we were running the original Integrity tires. Was very happy with them in the little snow that I drove on in the Blues (Cabbage Hill) and Snowqualmie pass driving between Boise and Seattle this past winter.

I put on triple treds on at 1200 mi. in Jan on my 05, so I can't compare any milage hit. Replaced OEM's because they were crapy on slush and ice, causing Trac control to keep from acel. from a stop, and ABS to come on too soon on braking I thought. Huge improvement on these two problems. I got 42-48 mpg all winter as temps went from 0- 45 deg., and as temps got to 50s-70s the last 3 tanks ave. was 50-52, so I cant complain about milage much, car has 6000 mi now. and I run 40/38 lbs pressure. Hoping to see a 55 mpg tank some day soon, if it happens, to my mind there would be no milage hit with these tires-- time will tell!
