When I became interested in the Prius I started looking for them all the time, but have seen only 1 other definitely and a possible older one in my travels.

Took a very small children's chorus to Live Oak UU Church in Cedar Park, just north of Austin, to perform today. When I parked, another driftwood and mine (twins??) flanked the two empty handicapped spaces on either side of the walkway to the church entrance. Never did find out who the owner of the other was, but I didn't have much interaction with the congregation.

We drove to San Francisco Friday and Isaw more Prius there than I usually see in a week. It was pretty exciting to see them. Saw one of each color of the Gen2 and 2 green classics. I must say that if I lived in SF I'd also own a Prius - oh, yeah, I already do!

    George's Hair Place, 500 West 84th Avenue

This is a UNIQUE shop.. there are at least four Prius owners who are haircut customers as well... we have managed to have three Prii parked in front of his shop at one time... George says if we get all four there, he might change the name of the shop... PriusLand Barber... George gives a pretty good haircut and his Prius is parked by the door.. he talks Prius to everyone in the shop and he loves to talk... so if you are waiting or getting the cut you have to listen... yesterday I pointed out that he hadn't changed his Prius calendar.. he stopped cutting a guys hair and went over got the calendar and showed everyone in the place all the pictures... you as a customer JUST have to go out and buy a Prius as self defence..

17 gen2's and 5 classics on my trip down to Lacey, Washington and back to Vancouver in one day. That has to be the most I've ever seen in one 24 hour period. I really love the dark green classic.
I best qualify this. Excluding the ones at Lacey.

    Very cool, Bob.
How many cars generate this much attention these days? Our cars are truly unique and make for great conversation...especially when you consider all of the 'plusses' with very few 'minuses' of owning this car. If I had more hair and spent more time in CO, I'd visit George's...but I am, alas, follically impaired. I DO enjoy a good Colorado bicycle ride, however (Estes Park at 7000 ft. to the Visitor Center in Rocky Mt. Natl Park at 12,000 ft.)
BTW (by the way...I'm just learning the lingo) my Pri is Driftwood Pearl also. I'd love to stop by Georges or Live Oak (bethmaup) and park my car next to yours! LOVIN' IT! Scott W.

I was driving eastbound on the Grand Central Parkway today (in NYC) and I saw a driftwood pearl prius with what looked like a green flame decal that wraps around the front of the car and reaches the front doors.

Does that belong to anyone on these forums?

    It definitely stood out.

    Hi ChuX;
Check out the topic 'FLAMES' under 'appearance modifications'. That might be THE car with the flames you described....but I think it's silver. Anyway...it's very cool!
For economic reasons, I'll probably leave mine 'stock', but bigger wheels and cooler rims would be nice. Happy trails! Scottt W.

I was approached by a couple of people at the Wal mart parking lot today, asked questions about my unique little beauty.

Of course I told them I absolutely loved it. They thought it was great. I meet lots of people that way.

    scottw,
it's like the flame in that thread, but lots more flames than that, and it wrapped around the front of the car.

i'm thinking of putting some basic decals when i get mine in a few months

Sorry, but I can't get a pic of it. I was driving on the other side of the highway when I passed it.

The second day I owned my car, I was stopped at a traffic light and there was a one Prius Ahead of me and one along side of me.

Waiting for the quadruple sighting, but I know it will come.

I'm in Rhode Island and I bought my Prius in March. To date, I have only seen 6 other ones on the road. I have a long commute to work and frequently go into MA, but still only 6.

We usually see 3 or 4 a day during our 120mile R/T commute from Santa Cruz to Carmel, but the other day (Monday) we were driving home and caught up with two Prii. For several miles it was two Silver ones and our Black one all in a line on the Freeway.

I still remember years ago, when a sighting was rare. But not anymore! Sorry to gloat, but I see so many Prius everytime I drive now... I stopped counting. It's pretty sweet!

The price of success here is a bit disheartening though, since owners rarely return a wave. Oh well. The goal was to make them achieve a "common" status, after all.

And losing certain aspects of the past is welcome. Every now & then I run into someone that insists there were no anti-hybrid battles, that somehow I'm just making that up. A weird twist, eh?

We're now on day 2 of Prius ownership.
Prior to day 1, I had seen a total of 3 Prii on the road.
On day 1 we drove over to show it to our daughter, and were met by another Prius in the same cul-de-sac! Now get this: all the occupants in both cars spontaneously broke out in the Prius wave!
I'd read about that here, but must say it came over us like a reflex action.

We took a short 1,100 mile trip from Connecticut to Iowa. Aside from Dora, we didn't see one Prius.

Our trip took us through NY City and around Chicago. There must, indeed, be Prius "hotspots" around the country.

southern Puget Sound, Seattle down to Portland Oregon, must have seen 30 of them Classics and new mods. and that was last Sept. went back down in May and not quite as many. The Bay area of Cal. is reported to be a mecca for them as well.
