“Is that one of those hybrids?†asked the guy next to me at the gas station as I topped off the Honda Insight’s tank.

    “Yes, it is†I replied.

He inspected the little eco-pod’s awkwardly-shaped body for a moment, one lip half curled up. After a moment’s pause, he commented “I’d never buy one of thoseâ€.

    “Why’s that?†I asked.

    “They’re just….all weird†was his response.

Yeah they are weird, not like 1 person alone driving a 2 ton truck down to the local shops for a loaf of bread and a bottle of full cream milk or driving a 7 seat 4 wheel drive when you have a family of 4 and never drive off road, that's really normal.

That was an interesting read but one wonders how hard this test driver thinks is normal driving? I'd be embarrassed to post those mileage figures.

It is indeed normal, least around these parts. I could illustrate a similar situation where I walk up to one of the vehicles you describe and tell the owner that I could never drive one of those things. Why? Because it is selfish, dangerous to others, and I'm secure enough in my capacity with the ladies that I do not require an ego boost. :)

Not all of us get to party at the Playboy mansion. Many of us have to compensate. That's why in addition to my Prius I still have the 4 ton Dodge Cummins dually.... for those times when I'm feeling a bit "insecure". 24MPG on stinky diesel thank you very much. LOL! :D

Shshhh that is a secret. :p

P.S. can I borrow your stinky diesel to tow our Polaris Ranger and mowing atachment to one of our properties for some fire break work? I'm not sure they'll fit in the back of my Prius. :D

It might be common but I hope it isn't considered normal sensible behaviour.

Over the years I've come to question "common sense" and the sensibility of the average American. So many things in life are non-intuitive yet we are confident we have it all figured out without studying a subject in depth. hehe

It's kind of like the "Wizards First Rule" in effect....

    Are there more "Wizard" Rules?

If so, can you post a ref?

Aye, there are but that one is my favorite. lol You want to know the counter to the First Rule? There is none, we are susceptible. :(

    LINK to more rules

The originate in a fantasy fiction novel series (The Sword of Truth) I read a LONG time ago when I was into that stuff.

I think the "Wizard's First Rule" is actually the first rule of advertising, no?
