I have a basic question. I have a 2005 Prius with JBL/Navigation. Is there a way to add a Aux In without losing my CD changer? If so, what is it?

I know this similar topic has been covered but most of the answers I found focused on having some sort of control of the Ipod. I just want a basic aux input.

One reason most are used with iPods is because most people do not want to give up the aux input.

I would suggest you look at the manufacturer's websites to see which of their products will work with your vehicle.

For example, my 2008 w/ factory NAV and factory XM will work with only some of the iPod adapters; some require me to give up my XM.

I also have an '05 with JBL/nav. I have the first version of the Dice Electronics iPod kit (they call it the Silverline now) and it also has an aux input, which was specifically mentioned in the manual, but I've never tried it.

With my iPod, I do not lose the CD changer - it shows up as CD2 when you cycle through AM/FM1/FM2/CD1 using the MODE button on the steering wheel. My guess is that the aux input would probably also be CD2, but I dont know what the display would say.

I have this same yr. JBL Nav - need to know how to get cd's out - 2 are stuck, won't eject/load/play. Dealer wants to just put new cd unit in for $310 eeeeek help! How about long tweezers? Needle-nose pliers? What??

Looks like you have three options: 1) $310 for the dealer, 2) take the radio out, remove the cover(s) and see if there is any way to remove the CDs without destroying your radio, or 3) calling around to see how much a local repair shop would charge. 3 might be better than 1 because it should be cheaper. No electronic diagnosis; simple removal.

I think it all comes down to how much value you place on the convenience of the CD changer. I and my wife have our own iPods; my son and daughter (2 and 5) share one iPod. We really have no use for the CD changer anymore.
