I sent Toyota an email asking whether there was any plan to make mp3 players more easily adapted to the factory sound system.

    Below is their response:

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
We apologize, we do not have any immediate plans to offer an MP3 player for any of our vehicles either as a factory option or as an accessory.

Like with all new technology, we do extensive research and testing as well as market surveys and studies to assist in forecasting product features and equipment that will be desirable to the consumer. Please check periodically with your local Toyota dealership for updates on the availability of an MP3 player.

So maybe we should all flood them with requests for MP3 playback capability. At least MP3 CD. Do that with a 6 CD changer and I could have most of my library!

I would KILL for an in-dash 6-disc that played MP3s. Wow, that'd be nice. No hassles with iPod hookup and interface and charging the unit, etc. What is Toyota thinking? Or not thinking. Why would that technology interest escape their marketing?

    Even...cough...cough...GM radios are MP3 capable...Fords too.

Can't we have it all (HSD AND MP3)?!

It's rediculous that with all the technological gadgets in the Prius, Toyota did not have the foresight to use an mp3 readable chip in their system. RedBook only players are (dare I say) old school these days.

I have my whole music library stored on 8 CDs. It would be phenomenal to just park them in my Prius...forever! :p

Well, with a 6 CD changer, you would not be able to put 8 CDs in it, so they would not be able to be parked forever. OK, they can all be in the car, but not in the player.
