Toyota Prius rear view backup camera: P/N, procurement and installation

I want to install on my Prius 2007 Executive an original rear back-up view camera, just like the one from the picture in attachment.

I need an original one, because I don't want to make any improvisation. Also, I don't want a camera included in numbering plates support, just like BOYO Vision VTL200C (Chrome) Rearview Cameras Car Video Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix

Do you know a place where I can buy the original Toyota Prius camera which is mounted on the back of the car, in the top-left of the numbering plates?

Do you have access to online parts stores that sell Toyota original equipment?

The Toyota online parts stores in the US sell the camera, like this one:

    2007 Toyota Prius Camera - Parts.com

But I have no idea whether the camera part is the only thing you'll need.

    Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the link.. I've found a part, which seems to be that camera, but costs 532USD!! OMG, that is the price for that camera? Here is the link: 2007 Toyota Prius Camera - Parts.com

Unfortunately, I think this shop is in US, so I have to pay VAT also and the shipping to Europe. The price doesn't justify for me.. hope that I can find something else. I don't know any of those kind of online shops in Europe..

Hi,if you try Sigma Automotive – Accessories that make your car go cleaner, meaner & greener Prius 04-09 NHW20 Performance,Handling & Electronic Accessories, they do the OEM camera for $299 but that doesn't include the interface that will also be required.

Do you know where I can procure an original one, at a lower price? I've found one on eBay, but the price is very high.. 2006-2009 TOYOTA PRIUS BACK UP CAMERA:eBay Motors (item 390039076432 end time Jun-20-09 08:35:24 PDT)

Today I've spoke with my Toyota local service, and they told me that the original camera cost about 900USD without VAT!! That is damn expensive.. See the attached picture, to see exactly how it looks.

    My next questions are:
-if I procure one from eBay, how I can mount it? Does Prius have all the cables inside, so that I need only to mount the camera?
-how is this camera activated and how is commuting the MFD screen to reverse parking mode using video? Does it need another connections or an interface box between MFD and camera?

    I would appreciate your help.

That's what I do. I never understood the need for one on a small car like the Prius but some people love it so that is all that matters. :)

This is the question I want answered also. If its as simple as getting a camera, and installin it in the door, then great. If there is more involved, to get the MFD to turn on, then I'd like to know that too!!

    I've looked into this.
It's not worth it, but if you want you can email Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle PHEV
I think they wanted $100 for the camera, plus you have to buy the wiring, and wire the cam to the mfd. Plus you need to change the setting in the mfd to accept the camera. That info is available for a price as well from them.
    Hope that helps.

Thank you for the contact info. I have sent an e-mail to Steve. I hope he(they) respond. What do you mean when you say "Not Worth It"? Sometimes its the challange of the project that makes it fun. $100 for the camera would be a great deal! I've seen them listed for anywhere between $300-$700

In anycase, If it does not require welding, then its not difficult. ;-)

    Thank you
    Justin

Guys, I've found the camera on US on different parts of continent.

Someone can procure one and send it to me? Also, the price is about 150-300USD where I've found it, from salvage cars. I can give you some contacts for who needs.

They are original, made by Toyota. I need one, but I don't know if someone can get it more cheaper than this..

Anyway, if someone procures the camera, on topic http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...-instal-original-toyota-rear-view-camera.html are some technical details regarding how it's connected to MFD and how it works.

    Hi guys,
I have read many topics about rear camera install multiple times, and here is my question:
We have a 2007 Prius Executive (Germany model), and it has Navigation, but no camera.I would like to know if there is an easy and affordable way to add the rear camera. One of the posts here mentioned that models 2007 and newer have the wires already installed.
When we removed the covering in the trunk behind the camera, we found a free connector (picture attached).
Please let me know if anyone has any knowledge about this issue.

They should also know whether or not your car already has the wiring for a rear camera.

That was my first idea. I just wanted to check if it would work or not from the people who went through the process.
