I am looking for good or bad experiences with Minneapolis area dealers, as well as any recent insight on what the wait time currently seems to be. Also, it would be great if people in the area know what pricing has been like in the last month.

    I'd be looking for a package 2 or 3.

    Thank you.

I've been happy with Burnsville Toyota, but their allocation appears to be smaller than Walser Toyota in Bloomington. I had a bad experience with the service department at a different Walser dealership, so I'd rather wait an extra month if needed.

I have no idea of the current wait time - sorry.

I had a good experience with Burnsville as well.

I deal with Rudy Luther's Toyota in Golden Valley. Very good experiences with service department. Got on the list for an 08/09 back in June and was #150 in line. Selling for MSRP on package #2 basic HG non-touring for $24,059. After learning about the short 09 production schedule and my position not moving much, I put myself in line for the 2010 instead at #23. Nothing bad to say about this dealership at this point.

We have bought 2 from Pat at Carlson Toyota up on highway 10 (either Andover or Coon Rapids I believe).
I don't know what their current wait time is. However when we were first looking (about 2 years ago) the first dealer didn't have one to test drive (said they went too fast) while Pat at Carlson did. I suspect their allocation is pretty good.

We bought our first Prius over the Internet in 2003 and it was to be delivered through Rudy Luther in Minneapolis and the experience was not pleasant.

We live a ways from Mpls and the car was not ready on the day that they said it would be ready. When we got there around 10 AM there was no one that was qualified to prep the car even if we were willing to wait for it until 5 PM. They offered to drive the car out to us and it was obvious that they had just grabbed a couple of youngster off the street for the job. They did not seem to have a good sense of how a Prius should be driven.

We bought our second Prius at Quality Toyota in Fergus Falls, MN and we have been very happy with the car and their service.

I was Burnsville's first HSD sale. That went really well. So, I'll be heading back there for my 2010.

We bought ours from Walser Toyota in Bloomington and had a great experience. Our sales guy was Randy Byrne and he was very knowledgeable about hybrids and the Prius in particular. We had a trade in and they were actually more than fair with the value - way better than we expected. I've been through the car buying process quite a few times and would rate Walser as far better than most. I would stay away from Toyota City in Brooklyn Park - I've encountered a bunch of punks there.

Burnsville Toyota is an excellent Dealer. The sale was honest and the service department is excellent.

Looking to buy a new Prius, probably a 2010. One test drive salesperson was high-pressure and condescending (Rudy Luther in Golden Valley). The other was nice and laid back, but the dealership itself has issues (the former Denny Hecker in Inver Grove ). At this very moment, Rudy Luther's website lists the exact package+color car I'm looking for, but I don't want to deal with Nancy again.

So, any more recommendations and/or warnings for other dealers in this area? Or even other salespeople at Rudy Luther...I'd like the commission from this sale to go to someone low-pressure. :)

Although I live in the Cities, I ended up buying my 2010 II from Heintz Toyota in Mankato. They were the only dealer that actually had a couple of cars on the lot in the midst of C4C madness. A painless transaction. MSRP of course, but they didn't try and upsell me on anything and the car was not loaded with features I didn't want aside from the usual floor mats that you can't avoid and a factory installed IPod interface (a mediocre accessory at best, but not the dealer's fault). When I picked it up, I was in and out of there in 45 minutes. They tweaked the back up and seat belt alarms for free and with no hassle. I'd definitely consider buying from them again, even though it means a bit of a trip. Salesperson, Tom, was low key and very reasonable to deal with.

Now, of course, I need to decide on a local dealer for service. Sigh.

Very similar experience here with Heintz Toyota. :) I found out about the Oct 18th Prius price hike about a week in advance. A couple of other dealers said they could get a silver II at the old price, but I had limited time off work and only Heintz had one in stock. It was $3 under MSRP (woo hoo), no $200 for floor mats, and no factory installed stuff. It did come with two resident box-elder bugs, which I could have lived without, but at least they were free. ;) The salesperson was Mark, and he was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the Prius. In hindsight, I'm grateful for the time crunch. It forced me to find a nice dealer I wouldn't have otherwise considered. :D

The transaction took longer than 45 minutes -- I had a trade-in -- but they gave a good value for that, too.
