    Hi All,

I currently have a deposit down for a Blizzard Pearl Prius V at my local dealer. Honestly, I don't care which options are in the car or not, I'm trying to be as flexible as possible, I just want a BP V. My dealer told me that it will be at least 3-4 months before I have my car, potentially longer. I've been seeing posts where people are saying that cars are already sitting on lots (in other parts of the country, but as close as PA), which puzzles me with my wait time. Is it just that Toyota is really not making that many V's and this is my wait time for New York (Long Island)? Is there something that I should try to do to speed up the process?

    Thanks everyone.

Call every dealer around LI (including CT, NJ, PA) and be patient. You will find your V.

I think it may be difficult to be patient AND call every dealer in the Tri-State area!

Still, as yogadoc suggests, I wouldn't just accept that you'll have a long wait until your dealer gets one dropped off. Get on the internet and look for available Vs. There will be one somewhere, so the only question is whether your dealer will trade for it, or you will buy a Southwest ticket one-way to go pick it up.

Also, if you find a Prius V languishing on a dealer's lot somewhere, then chances are it was sent to the wrong place. The demand right now is pretty high on the IVs and Vs. I suspect the demand will die down for those higher-end cars, because it is many of those early adopters who are willing to pay for all of the pricey amenities.

Patience probably is still key, so do as yogadoc suggests. If you can keep patient while contacting all of those dealers, then write up the secret of your success and make your fortune selling the book!

I just got notification that the dealer (in south Florida) tracked down my Winter Gray V with Navigation. On a ship and to be at the dealership on 7/7/09. I am excited, but now trying to determine if I should pay for the tint, rear bumper plastic piece, or pin striping....?

    Opinions....

Try other dealers. I shopped four dealers total and each had a vastly different story about what was possible and how long I might have to wait for my V. Found a dealer (Manhattan Beach Toyota) that got me the exact car in a week (and I was much more inflexible about options than you sound). 3-4 months sounds crazy to me. If someone wants to sell you a car badly enough, they will find you a car.

Not necessarily. I am waiting on a V and it should come in a little after the 4th of July on the New Century 1 at Newark NJ.

But dealers put in their requests and if a large dealer asked for a BW V and he has a larger allocation he may still get it even though he doesn't necessarily have a firm buyer for it. He may just want a good assortment on his lot in his allocation and he may not be willing to trade it to another dealer that has one sold.

I started out wanting a V, wasn't sure how long it would take and said I'd take the IV they had in their allocation coming. Before it came they said their next allocation they were aboe to obtain a BW V like i wanted it. Still, all in all I didn't decide until a month ago that I wanted one and getting what I want 1 1/2 months after they started arriving is not that bad, considering I'm buying through a small dealership.

I really can't imaging them taking three months. They may have told you that but I don't think they really know what they are getting that far off. It could be that if they have 5 people in front of you wanting a V and that they know they will have to wait. Other dealers should have one coming though.

The V's are definitely in shorter supply than the others that's for sure. I was told maybe 5-10% will be V's compared to the other models. I too am currently waiting on my V. It has gotten to port, just waiting for it to be delivered to the dealer. Seems like it's taking forever. I agree with the others, shop around. Find a dealer who gets larger allocations as they are more likely to get what you are looking for before the smaller dealers that don't sell high volumes of Prii. I had my name and deposits at 3 dealers all of which are ones that sell alot of these cars so they get 20-30+ cars each allocation unlike some of my local dealers are getting 3-5 and then they're throwing so much crap on them to raise the price it's disgusting. $2000 for chrome wheels? Seriously!?! They weren't even the new wheels, they were from an '08 with no center caps. What a joke! Anyways, the place I am getting the car from (Manhattan Beach Toyota) let me choose what I wanted on the car once it got to port and are not throwing in any additional costs. I love it. Now if it will just get here already. Good luck. Mine happens to be a BP as well.

Well, I ended up calling around to some other dealers on Long Island and actually picked up a Prius IV with NAV in Blizzard. It's great! I actually got about $1200 off MSRP because the dealer wanted me to drive it out today, and I did. This is my first hybrid and I am totally loving it so far.

Now to go get my deposit back!

There is a Sandy Beach V wATP & 17" wheels here locally. The color is very nice but those 17" wheels are awful. No wonder SET is doing thier own. There was 8 of us checking this one and a silver III out today at a closed dealer. Don't know where the 2 black ones went.
