Guessing the ones from the dealer include the cargo mat, which is an additional $79.99 in the PriusChat Shop. That only leaves $29.02 profit for the dealer.

Just received my All Weather mats - ordered from Prius Chat Shop last week. $90 incl shipping. JUST put them in and...perfect. They are authentic Toyota mats, actually shipped from Toyota USA.

I did not order carpet mats thru the Port after hearing feedback here. Glad I waited and got these - very substantial and great quality.

Now waiting for the windshield sunscreen.

Most Hondas come with mats standard. Always had.

My BMW didn't come with floormats, but most dealers throw summer and winter mats in for free.

$200 for carpet floormats is outrageous, but the really irritating part is, at least from looking at dealer websites, it looks like people in SE Wisconsin might have to argue to be able to buy a car without them. Honestly, I don't understand why someone would want carpet floormats anyway unless they live in the desert. The rest of us get rain and snow and muck - so much better to be able to wipe stuff off.

Floor mats were "optional" for all of my new vehicles- a Pontiac, a Jeep, a Chevy, and now a Toyota. Of course, in all four cases, the floor mats were already on the window sticker, so they "came" with it.

That being said, the dealer could have probably done themselves and Toyota a lot of good by throwing in the mats.

I bought a Prius II base with no packages or accessories, which also means no mats. Either way, this isn't the first car I've bought and I have done my share of research to find out how much profit the dealer is making off me and where they're taking it from.

Long story short, I asked the salesman on the side if he'd hook me up with some mats and he said "oh yeah yeah, that's the easy part" and I now have mats! Don't be afraid to ask. The worse they can say is no, and it's not like they're making no money off you that they can't afford a simple gesture such as mats, or window tint, or wheel locks! ;-)

What's worse is having to pay for black floor mats in a Prius with a Bisque(tan) interior, I am trying to return them.

I kind of like them. A bit surprising the first time I saw them, but quickly got used to it. If you look around the car you see how they mixed and matched the blacks, silvers, greys, "bisque" and whites to move your eye around and keep it from being too monochrome. Of course, if you like a more monochrome look, then maybe the dark grey color scheme is a better match.

It is kinda weird that it has been practice in the industry to charge for floor mats. I'd rather go the after market route and get something substantial. I know for the 2010 it will be impossible because custom fitment won't be available for at least six months or so. When you think of the fact that you can get a universal set in Walmart for less than $30 it shows what kind of markup they have on it!!!

i've never seen a deal killed because of floor mats. Always ask as the closer. I always get the all weather mats free after all other haggling is complete.

I wish I would have asked to have all weathers thrown in on the deal rather than the carpet ones. The carpet ones are paper thin and don't feel like they are worth $20, let alone $200.

I like not paying for them at the dealer and then getting the best all weather mats I can find at a retail store that protect under the gas pedal better than the Toyota ones anyway, and for only a small fraction of the Toyota price. So I'm cheap and happy to be so.

I went to a new owner's meeting at the dealership last night. They took back my black floor mats and will see if Bisque mats from a 2009 Prius would fit. Of course they didn't get back to me today, as promised. At least I won a $ 25 gift certificate at the meeting.

You are SO not cheap. Thats the least they can do. I've been trying to buy a 2010 Prius and don't have a problem paying MSRP but will not pay the additional "Dealer Fee" of almost $1000. I've had an easier time buying a BMW, Lexus and Mercedes and never felt cheated. with the Prius I feel the dealers are all losers just trying to make an extra buck. I want the car... but it makes me sick.

On a previous car purchase (in 1989), I told the salesperson that I wanted him to throw the mats in gratis. He refused and then asked me, "Are you going to let $50 come between you and this beautiful new car?" Without missing a beat, I said, "Are you?"

Dealer cost is close to $80, excluding the trunk mat.

Many, many cars ago, I purchased a car in which floor mats were not an extra cost (they were included in a package!!!, thus kinda hidden...) but ever since floor mats have been an option.

In my experience, any good alternative to the factory mats is very close in price... savings are not that huge, unless you go Weathertech because you have to...
