Saw a 2010 Prius on My Commute to DC Today - Recommended Dealer?

What a gorgeous car! It was Barcelona Red, and I think I saw the sunroof option. I'm really thinking that the Gen III will be my new car. Can anyone recommend a dealership in the Washington DC / Northern Virginia area. I see that there are several Northern Virginia Toyota dealerships, but I have no ideas which ones are good since I've never looked at a Toyota before. Any suggestions? If it helps, I'm in Washington, DC but Arlington is a short trip.

Koons Tyson's Toyota seems to really have their act together, at least in comparison to all the others in the area I made inquiries with. Back in April, when I started trying to get an order in, I was calling dealers in the area and asking about the car, and whether I could get my name on a list, or whatever. All the other dealers I talked to pretty much didn't know anything about it, and didn't have a list. Koons had a preorder list, and were offering $500 below MSRP for preordering with them (with a $1000 refundable deposit). Not only that, but their staff actually seemed knowledgeable about the car.

I was early in the waiting list, but because the car I want (Blue Pkg III w/ Solar) is so hard to get right now, I'm having to wait an indeterminate amount of time.

    Good luck!

I just placed an order for a blue package III with nav with Koons as well. Called all over the place (about 15 dealers) and they were the only ones who knew of a soon-to-arrive blue III with nav.

What's the ETA on your car? Mine is on the vessel Overseas Joyce, which landed in NY on June 21 or 22.

Stefcat (Stephanie) is a member of PC. She's a salesperson at Koons in Easton Maryland - very nice, very helpful!

Funny thing, but that was slated to be my car! I had ordered it from Koons in mid-May. My salesman was Clyde. Great guy. It was my fault that the deal didn't go through, as I the same car from another dealer last Saturday. I was getting nervous that my trade-in price was devaluing quickly.

Clyde acted in a refreshingly professional manner when I told him I needed to cancel his deal. With all the negatives you hear about auto salesman, I had prepared myself for the worse. I will definitely be talking to him when my family buys its next car.

They have not been able to give me an ETA, unfortunately. I have a feeling it may be a while, but I am willing to wait. I'd rather wait a bit and get exactly what I want at a good price, than settle for something I don't want, or pay way more to have it right now (which I could do by either upgrading to a IV, or buying the car from a Southeast Region dealer that does have it, but is adding on a bunch of junk fees and is unwilling to remove them to make the sale).

What road were you on? You may have seen my wife's. Though no sunroof option. She drives up 95N and 395N and exits off onto Exit 3. Could it be hers?

This site is great to get knowledgeable about the Prius. I placed a deposit with Koons Tysons on May 9th and was told the package I was interested in would be available late June/July. Last week I was told it would be available June 26th. Today, I called Abel and was told between June 26th and July 6th. The waiting game continues.

I'll also share what the breakdown might be for the Prius III

    $23,000 - 2010 Prius I11
$200 - Carpet Floor Mats & Cargo Mat (It wasn't an option NOT to get it)
    $750 - Destination Fee
-$500- Discount (for the Deposit placed on May 9th)
    Sales Price: $23,500

    $389 - Processing Fee
    $755.05 - VA Taxes
    $66.50 - VA Tags
    -$1,000 - Deposit placed May 9th

Estimated Prius III Total (without any add-ons, etc): $23,660.50

Good luck and read the various threads!

Hopefully, you'll see my kids and I commute into DC in the next few weeks.

Notinarush - wow - what are the odds of this happening (my ending up, hopefully, with your car)?

I had a red 2006 which was in a bad head-on collision (some guy with no license or insurance made a U turn as I was going thru a green light). The car saved my life!! Airbag went off, the engine basically fell out and the car was totalled (my poor Chelsea - barcelona red). But the safety energy absorbing crumple zone was great - the cab of the car was basically untouched and I walked away with just a seatbelt scrape. I am really sold on this car's safety features.

Now, I will drive nothing else. So we're in a rental until this arrives - hope it isn't late. It had already docked in NY......((fingers crossed))

I took possession of my new 2010 Prius from Ourisman Toyota in Chantilly, Virginia on June 9. I was very pleased with the number of people involved in my transaction. I would go there again over several other Toyota dealers that I have had experiences with in northern Virginia.

steve44, I was just getting onto Constitution Ave after coming across the Roosevelt Bridge. So, it must not have been hers that I saw. I'll keep an eye out for it.

I've been very pleased with Koons Toyota, Arlington. Much smaller than Tyson's, but I've heard they actually sell more hybrids. We've had our Echo serviced there for years.

I'd like to thank all of you guys for the recommendations and other thoughts.

I was driving to Home Depot today and saw a little Toyota dealership tucked away off Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church (Bill Page Toyota). I pulled in, and they had two: one a Prius II and the other a Prius IV with NAV. I want factory NAV, so I focused on the IV, which came in Winter Gray Metallic exterior / Misty Gray interior. The folks there were easy to deal with (low pressure all the way), and the test drive showed me that it is an IMPRESSIVE vehicle. So.... (wait for it)....

I put a $500 deposit down for it. I have never bought a car on impulse and have a personal policy of sleeping on any major purchase. However, I really did have to fight not just rolling off in this little beauty. I am thinking that I will make it mine tomorrow, but I need to make sure that I am OK with the leather seats. I prefer cloth seats, but I do like the heated seats that you get on the IV (for those chilly DC winters!). So, that's one thing to think about. A sunroof is not important to me, and the whiz bang options on the V are neat but I don't think I would use them much (though I used to think the same about NAV). So, that's another thing to think over.

The dealer just wants sticker (no upcharges), and I would add in the floor mats and service plan.

What do you guys say? Should I go for it?

FYI, the other option is a 2010 Insight that really failed to impress on it test drive, and there is no car available in the area with the options I want.

I got the one(Blue III, w/NAV) that had been sitting in Warrenton for ~10 days. Bought it on 6/18. First Prius, love it more each day.

Several weeks ago , I saw a black 2010 in Rockville, MD, with a Darcars temporary plate. It went down Twinbrook Parkway and turned right on Baltimore Road. I asked about it in this forum but didn't get a response except that one person thought it may have been one he had been called about by Silver Spring Darcars. Anybody know who it belongs to?

I can endorse for Koon's Tyson's Toyota. I worked with Abel, the Internet Sales guy. He was very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. He offered a $500 discount off list and I spent another two hours trying to get the price down from there to no avail. Abel came up with every polite way in the book to tell me that this was his best offer. I eventually figured that out and took it. He is a pleasure to do business with.
