OK, there we go again, yesterday evening I put a deposit in a model 3 Blizzard Pearl coming in in the week after the 4th of July! I know... my 2 main choices were winter gray or black, actually the 2 least popular according to the poll in this forum, but I like darker colors. Well, I saw a Blizzard Pearl in the dealer yesterday (model 4) and really liked it in the Prius! Besides, the waiting was shorter in the Blizzard compared to the winter gray. So, hopefully no more unpleasant surprises!!!!

That is more like it Indy. It makes me feel better for you. The pearl is a sweet color and that car is the exact same as mine. I hope it is not my car. You know how crazy it's been for you and me. Never had such an Adventure trying to buy a car. It's like getting a Benni Baby in the 80s.

Yes, it's been crazy for us but I guess we learn a lot from bad experiences. That's my take on it.

You know, I was never a big fan of white cars, but that Pearl surely looks great in the Prius! It changed my mind about color when I saw it!

    Cheers...

Indy - i was originally red or blue or black (in that order), but changed my mind to Blizzrd Pearl. Got it last night - love the paint job - very classy. especially like it with the solar becuase the whole top is black except that one strip of white where the antenna is.

i think you will be happy with the outcome - everything works out in the end and sometimes for a reason

FYI, I have a wintergray III in gray on the ground right now. Previous customer didn't qualify for the rate he wanted. It is for sale as I type this. I know you have a deposit with another dealer, but I don't know how badly you need the car...

I rather like the pearl white. It looks especially neat with the sunroof... the contrast on roof/paint color at the roofline's very attractive.

    :)

I agree: Jeepers is a great guy. Watch out for Jasper and Jumper though . . . they can't be trusted, and often try to ride the coattails of his good reputation!

Oh, and Jabber is a good guy too:)

    Re Prius with VIN JTDKN3DU8A0002590...

I ran the VIN through Dealer Daily, it is showing that it has Port Damage.

The dealer will never see the car.

One of two things is going to happen to this car.

    1) It's badly damaged, in which case it will be scrapped, and NOT rebuilt. This ties into product liability concerns, if it's got frame damage or major damage, etc, Toyota doesn't need it on the road.

    2) If it's lightly damaged, it'll be sold at a dealer auction in a sale open to Toyota dealers only. If it's damaged, it may or may not be fixed. We're required to disclose such cars if we choose to sell them. This won't likely happen for at least 4-6 months.

This car is going nowhere quickly and this is absolutely not under any control of the dealer whatsoever. We had a RAV4 damaged in transit, and the RAV4 in question was, at the time, not within 50 miles of the store. We never saw it, we just got another allocated. IIRC it took about 2 weeks to get another car.

This could be true, but it probably is a variation on a very old joke. Another variation is that the car fell off the truck.

    OK, here we go again.

Today is the last day of the ETA range for my Prius (6/29-7/3). Well, actually tomorrow is, but because most country is celebrating the holiday tomorrow, my dealer is not anticipating arrival of my Prius until next week. Given my past horrible experience with the previous dealer, I'm starting to freak out again. My sales guy said there is nothing to panic about, according to him up to 1 week delay is not uncommon and I just have to keep patient… “it should be here sometime next week”, he says. He checked the status and everything seems OK and the car is in freight status (at least that's what he’s telling me). Am I being over sensitive about this... or should I prepare for the worst again?

It was indeed in freight status in the beginning of the week with no problems reported... I'll wait until next week to track it down again... I'm afraid to ask for tracking it now and discover bad things. That would ruin my holiday weekend... I'm really hoping it is just normal delay at this time, otherwise I will quit and buy a scooter.

Tell the dealer you want a copy of the vehicle inquiry report emailed to you. At least then you'll know if he has a car that meets your specs coming in, and confirm the status as F.

I have worked with that Jabber guy, and I gotta say, he has one Strange Name. I liked that Jeff guy a lot better. However, not everything he says is true either. I am still waiting for the package of "Oreos" or other 'gift' he promised me... ;- ).

Then again, that was Jabber, not Jeff, so he may be okay.

A side of me is thinking positively: tomorrow is the last day of ETA, but it is a holiday followed by a weekend. So, most likely, those lazy folks who transport it, whoever they are, are not really exciting about delivering the car tomorrow or Saturday. It’s just not happening. My dealer is probably right. The car was in F status with no damage reported in the beginning of the week, so what's to worry about? I should chill out, have some great family time this holiday weekend and check back on Monday or Tuesday, you know, just leave my sales guy alone for a bit. He needs a break.

But my other side keeps bugging me and thinking: My car is toasted again and I'm going to need professional help at this time...

Hey, if you end up with a scooter, you will have even better economy that both the TDI and the Prius, and will save a lot of cash too! ;);)
