Hello, I am new....I love my 06 Prius. I want to use the AUX- I have the plug and connected my little MP3 player...the system says "AUX is in PLAY MODE" . NO sound or anything. The player says it is playing. It is an audio cable.... I have checked the manual but it says nothing about acceptable types of AUX....

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thanks Diana:eek:

Are you certain the cable is good? That would be my first guess.

Well I assume it is as I just bought it specifically for this purpose, but I will check it. Thanks for the suggestion. So you are saying that the AUX will basically recognize any player?

I don't know about what year, but check inside the console on the front vertical surface.....it says AUX and if you flip open the little door there is an audio jack plug. :D

yeah i dont have that. well that sucks. ive been using a stupid fm transmitter to plug in my iphone so i can listen to my music but it annoys the crap out of me when i hear static coming from it. and the volume is not being used to its max potential. it sucks. man i wish i have that aux plug in. i am very unfortunate.

It didn't start being included as an option until 06. See https://priuschat.com/forums/knowle...andard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html.

A coworker of mine has a package-less (?) 07 that doesn't have it. It's stripped down to the point where it doesn't have the smart key system and has the older LCD (well, at least UI is the older style).

I would check your player and cable on some other system, then try another cable and player on your Prius. Between them you should be able to troubleshoot the problem. Check the volume settings on both the Prius and the player - probably the most common source of the problem.

My suspicion is the volume level on the MP3 player. It actually has to be up quite high to work.

    Try that

I connect my iPod to a "mix it" amplifier (similar to a bootaroo) and connect to the aux port but I still don't get an equivalent volume level compared to the CD. Do other have that issue? What's the fix?

Same thing happened to me. I am using a Creative Zen MP3 player with my 2006 Prius. No sound- cable is brand new. Any other ideas?

You could check that make sure both ends of the cable are completely pushed all the way into the 3.5mm jacks. If you can still see the metal plug, then it needs to be pushed in more.
