Only ones the dealers seem to get is Red. They all tell me I'm at the top of the list for Blue Ribbon and Winter Grey but they never seem to get them.

I guess they aren't shipping many V w/AT package and it seems when they do they are red or white.

Must remain patient. But renting a car to drive to work is getting old, fast.

I'm in the same boat here in South Florida. Ordered a V with Nav in winter grey back in May. Only one they received was a red V without Nav. (I'm would even consider other colors at this point, just not fond of the red or white). Found one in Vero Beach exactly like I wanted, but dealer wouldn't budge on $600 dealer fee and $750 or so Toyo Guard protection. So, I am still waiting it out. The whole allotment process and even the search to check availability is horrendous. At least I am not stuck renting, though. Good luck to us both.

$600 dealer fee is typical for Toyota dealers in Florida ($400-900 avg). The Toyo Guard is port-added, so dealer can't remove. But if that was all holding me from the ideal V, I'd have grabbed it. You are already paying such a large premium for the V w/ Tech that another $750 isn't that big a deal.

True...still thinking about it, although it may be gone by then. The salesman was great, but it was the attitude of the sales manager that rubbed us the wrong way. I understand the Toyo guard is port added. Although, they can't "remove" it, some dealers would be willing to budge on the fee to make the sale. As for the dealer fee, you are correct, that is what most dealers in FL charge. However, the dealer that we have our deposit down at waived it and was charging straight MSRP. When talking to the sales manager at the dealer in Vero Beach, we told him we were more than willing to pay either the dealer fee or the Toyo Guard, and we would drive up that day. However, he was unwilling to budge on either fee. So, we will see. We do want the car, but we are not in a super time crunch, as our current lease does not expire until December. (Just way over our miles and paying $$$ in gas at an average 16 MPG, sooo Prius would be nice to have now). Thanks for the reply!

Just talked with one dealer today. He tells me the V's with AT are being allocated in a different way or something like that, and once again they are getting red and silver, neither of which I want. They were trying hard to get me to buy the last red they got, so why do they get sent another? Bah, for the amount of money it is going to cost I'm not going to compromise on color choice. Maybe I should consider a IV w/Solar Roof though.

I live in San Francisco. I'm willing to travel pretty far. I just moved here from NYC and I didn't have a car while I lived there, but now I need one to commute, so I'm renting until I can get a Prius. That expense is adding up.

I'm in the same boat here in Denver. My dealer has a red V w/ATP that has been sitting on the lot for two weeks. I ordered mine in white back in May but my dealer still doesn't even have the VIN number yet and isn't expecting it to be in until August-September.

If you do a search on Edmunds.com, and specify the radius you want the site to search, it will return all Toyota dealers in that radius, and list their Prius inventory.

Sometimes the list is out-of-date, but it's usually fairly current. You should double check the Edmunds list by going directly to the dealer's website to confirm the inventory is accurate.

If you live in the Bay Area, I would be very surprised if there weren't several Prius Vs with the AT package within a 50 mile radius. Or stretch it out to include Sacramento and the valley, and you'll find even more.

According to Dianne Whitmire's post at 12:29PM she has 3 V's in stock. One with no AT, and 1 blue with AT and winter gray with AT

    Thanks for the tips!

Coastie, I couldn't find an easy way to use that search to just look for V's but I adjusted the price and got a few hits, none in Blue or Grey though. Lots of Red and White. Am I missing something or is price the best way to search?

sdtundra, thanks for the pointer. I may have to call Dianne, it may be the only way I'm going to get a car before next month. Just have to bribe someone to get me there :)

Just be patient folks and don't give in to the dealers that want to overcharge. List price is fine, but anything over is GREED!! Didn't Gordon Gecko say "Greed is good"? I forget.

If only it could be there by the weekend of the 17th, I could go to Disneyland for my birthday and get the car in one trip. :)

Thanks for the pointer, sdtundra! I'm a very happy guy today.

I was using cars.com to look for my Prius with AT package. I would just enter new 2010 Prius and sort by price to look for ones $32,520 or more. Then I would call the dealer and ask if they had any. I found a couple in the midwest, but I had a deposit down that my dealer wouldn't refund, so I waited for my dealer. Fortunately, he found me a Sandy Beach one pretty quickly--my only stipulation was not white. He said they're not going to be making more for a month or two. However, while looking at cars.com, I found a ton of them in California. It's my understanding that the California-area dealers only get Prius Vs with the AT package, so it should be a little easier to find on the west coast. Good luck! I'm supposed to get my car within a month, and I can't wait!!

I tend not to believe what dealers say -- I've been lied to too many times. But I had been wondering if Toyota might pause production of Nav/AT models until the SafetyConnect system was ready to ship. I don't know, and hard to believe, but could this dealer be right this time?

Honus, I'd climb right up on that ship's deck and grab your car if I could. Your car's on the BELLONA so have a little fun tracking the freighter from port to port... see when it actually gets to Long Beach! :)
