Got a call from the Toyota salesman last week saying that my car should arrive in port (Jacksonville FL) on May 7 (yesterday) so this should be the week I get my Prius. Looking forward to it and giving a new owner report after putting a few miles on it.

Ordered it around 23 March, so if I get it this week it will be about a 7 week wait. Not bad, I guess. Our local paper had a feature article on the Prius and how the market for new and used ones was going "bananas" so I hope the dealer doesn't sell it out from under me for a higher price than we agreed on <g>. I'll keep you posted.

We got good news this week too. Ours should arrive in 2 weeks - waiting time pretty close to 1 year! Madison is an incredibly hot Prius market. But, we were able to get another year of use (and no payments) on our 95 Camry so we were OK with waiting and didn't feel the need to travel to get one sooner.

    2 Weeks - yeehaw!

Wow! I admire your patience! We placed our order in late March.

Just called the dealership and the car has been cleared for transfer to the "car carrier" and should definitely be at the dealership this week. I even received the VIN for the car. ALRIGHT!!!!!

I'll have to ask the dealer for our VIN so I can get the insurance stuff taken care of. Ours apparently left Portland yesterday on its way to Wisconsin.

I'm going to be down in your area next week Dr. Bob. Me and my buddies are going on our annual tarpon fishing drip off of Boca Grande. I'll be sure to give the Prius wave to any I see, maybe it will be you!

I'm told it's the best tarpon fishing in the world. Don't know how the action is going this year, but good luck.

My dealer called this morning and said my car might be at the dealership as soon as today! I asked about the time for dealer prep and he said that they did all the prep at the port of entry and all the dealer had to do was wash it and gas it up!

Who knows, might even have it yet today!!!!

Take good note of the following:

Toyota gives you one free car alignment within 12,000 miles. The tire guy said that the car is chained down inside the car carrier so tight that the car alignment is always screwed up.

The prep at port and the dealer does NOT include checking the car alignment, so what the informed Prius buyer needs to do is keep a real close eye on the tires to see if they are cupping at all, either on the inside or outside of any of the tires.

Checking the tire pressure is simply not enough.

Thanks for the tip, Robert. I'll keep an eye on the tire wear and also the high speed handling characteristics and make sure I get it right within the 12k mile limit.

Yes, thanks Robert. I'm also considering swapping out the tires immediately, perhaps for the Comfortreds. Everything I've read about the OEM tires says that they are ill suited to Wi winters. And we live on a hill so I'm worried about the whole traction control issue.

The dealer is offering a fabric protection, which I'm considering given the light interior. But, it's $200. I'll do some research on the topic here on the boards.

Yup, The dealer called on Wednesday and we picked it up late in the afternoon. Very cool, indeed. I'm having some foot problems so my wife is doing all the driving ;-(

So far we are having a ball learning all the little neat things it can do. I have some pix up on the picture gallery here on PriusChat. Check it out. The URL is:

By the way, if you get down this way on your trip (Cape Coral/Fort Myers) and have the time, perhaps we could get together for lunch somewhere. Give me a call at 239-772-1663.

She's a beaut! I'm guessing you got the grey interior since you have silver. I wish they offered it on the Salsa, which is what we are getting.

I put your number in my Palm Pilot so I'll have it on the trip. I'm going to be with 4 other guys (men's trip... the wives stay home!) so its not too likely I'll be able to break away, but you never know!

Enjoy your Prius!! I'll post some pictures of ours when we get it. Hopefully week after next.

Good luck getting it registered in Wisconsin! We submitted paperwork in mid March, just got registration confirmation and renewal sticker today. So we can finally ditch the NC temp tag and use our WI plate again. And the title should, with luck, be on the way in 2 weeks.

Of course, going to a DMV office wasn't an option as we're in NC, about 1400 miles from the nearest Wisconsin DMV... and we won't be visiting for another month and a half.

So don't send your title app in, take it to them directly and pay the extra $5... that's the lesson learned!

Hope your car comes soon, and congrats rwlade on your new Pri!

Thanks, Galaxee. By the way, I contacted Troy re: Extended Warranty and he will need my registration info before going ahead. I wonder how long it will take to get that and the title from the State of Florida.... <sigh> bureaucracy in action <g>

Beacher: I wanted the Salsa but the wife didn't like the beige/brown/tan interior, so we compromised on Silver with the grey interior. The Salsa with grey would have been the best combo of the lot IMHO.

    Dr Bob,

I was driving north on I75 this morning near Sarasota and I came up on a 04/05 Silver and thought... I wonder if that's Dr. Bob! As I got closer, I saw that it had a somewhat weathered bumper sticker on the back, so I knew it wasn't you.

By the way, we had fantastic luck on the Tarpon. Gobs of fish in the Boca Grande pass this year. Hated to come back home to WI today.

Now, hopefully we will be gettting a call from the dealer this week to come on by. Early this week would be best!

He'll also accept a copy of the sales contract or your insurance declaration page for verification of your VIN.

Greg: Wow! That was a fast week! Glad the fishing was good this year. Keep us posted on the new baby's arrival!

We now have over 200 miles on ours and all is well. About 46 mpg on the first tank so far, but a lot of time sitting in the driveway with the A/C running playing with all the "goodies".

IsrAmeriPrius: We got the registration info in the mail Saturday, so I'm sending my letter off to Troy today.

Just called the dealer for an update.

It's been delayed slightly and now they are looking at 5/31-6/6 for arrival.

    :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

I was hoping we would have it for the holiday weekend.

After a year, my patience is wearing thin.

Awww. That's a bummer. What dealer are you going through? Heck, I'm ashamed to say it because I'm a WI native but where is Oregon located? What bigger city is it near?
