Filled 'er up earlier today. The running MPG/tank did not reset. I've gone about 12 miles since....

Not sure how I did it. I'm pretty sure I powered down first. No beeping anyway....I checked the oil while it was filling. I heard the pump "auto-click" off. topped it about three clicks, finished the transaction outside and went in the zippy-mart to get my carwash code, drove into the wash-o-matic and let it do it's wash thing. On the way home, I noticed that it hadn't reset. Still hasn't....hmmmm.

    Any ideas?

unless there is something I don't know. You have to push reset on the screen to make it reset.

How empty was it before you filled up?

Is it supposed to auto reset? I've had the car 2 1/2 months,I've always pushed the button. Never tried not pushing it.

Yes but it often takes a few minutes and need to be more than half empty before it will do it automatically.

You need to pump more than 11 litres before it'll auto-reset

I also had a no reset, and the fuel quantity gauge didn’t register the fill-up either. As I drove onto the dealer’s lot for service, I was about to get my first 800+ mile per tank reading. :p

The main reason for the visit was the Auto/AC was also acting goofy, and I was wondering if I was having a cascading failure. After they checked it out, I agreed that the Auto/AC thing was probably just a temporary computer thing . . . and has been so far . . . BUT . . . they found a problem with the tank, ordered a new one, and asked me to bring the car back so they could swap them out.

My logic was so telling me, “Problem with the Auto/AC and glitch with the fuel quantity.†

 ...oops! left out a small detail:

Was about 20 miles into a "blinking" last bar. Put ~10.75 US Gallons in to fill.

Have since made another 10 mile trip and it still didn't reset...

Me again. My gauge showed a full-fill when I drove away from the pump...

I have owned mine for a year and if I let the fuel icon and warning come on before "which I do a lot more then I should" the reset is automatic. But if I am topping off the tank before a trip it does not.

I also reset on of my trips so I check the milage on the screen by pushing the info button on the steering wheel once or twice depending on what mode I am in.

    hope this helps

I think the missing jigsaw seems to be your power on/off sequence.

There is another owner in PriusOnline also did not reset as reported here:

Stop the MPG Reset after each gas fillup
Can you recall the sequence of events from power on up to the wash-o-matic? If you can also roughly estimate the timings, that would be great!

    Thanks,

    Vincent

Edited 10:13 pm EDT for timing update.

Yeah. The sequence is the odd link. Too bad i really don't recall it accurately..

One thing that stands out is that, after the refueling, but without booting, i went into the zippy-mart for about 3-5 minutes came back to the car and THEN booted the car. Having said that:

The timing from boot-up to the wash-o-matic was about 20 seconds and then basically stopped forward movemet in park to let the wash-o-matic do its thing. . Did not power-off the car until I got home.

I wonder if anyone else (surely we have) has filled up and then waited about 5 minutes before starting the car then moved a short distance then stopped for a few minutes...

That's the best I can do right now...

Dang!! :cussing: Disconnecting the aux (12V) battery will reset that sucker. Wanted to watch it roll over 1ooo miles. Argh. Will try to re-create next fill-up.

On the plus side, the reason the aux batt was disco'd was for the install of Kenwood WooX sub. Sweeet.

Does the MPG mileage go over 999 miles?

It didn't reset for me either. I powered off the car completely and then I put in 10.7 gallons. I powered it on and waited. the fuel gauge bars went to full, but the mpg didn't reset. I then pushed the reset button. I didn't move the car. Did I not wait long enough?

Oh, this was my first fillup and I got 48.6 on the first tank. I'm thrilled.

The key was that you did not move the car. It resets after you move, after it registers a full tank.

its supposed to reset automatically if you add more than a few gallons. i have never tested this since i always reset it manually along with trip A. i do notice that it might reset again after ive done it since frequently, Trip A and the tank mileage will be off by a few tenths of a mile.

If this prerequisite apply to RoboChemE, then how come it does not apply to PeeDeePrius?

I would gladly do this experiment for PeeDeePrius if I'm drivng a 04/05. Too bad mine is a Classic and do not have this Auto Reset "feature". I got to choose if I wanted to reset.

For the past 1.5 yrs, this topic has pop up time and again but no one seems to be able to beat it. Most either get used to it or use the pen and paper method.
