Blizzard pearl is by far the most popular color for the 2010 Prius for people of ALL ages. See the poll: PriusChat Forums - View Poll Results I find it more surprising that so many young people chose blizzard pearl. I always thought of white as being an old person's color. Sandy beach is not very popular at all, but the majority of people who chose that color are older.
42 - Silver, but almost went with black and glad I didn't (waste of water). Your poll is definitely interesting because I had a young salesman basically talk me out of getting the Sandy Beach after I'd waited 3 weeks for it. He said "mostly" people over 50 buy that color and suddenly it wasn't that appealing anymore...
I'm 26, wife 33, average age 30, got a Sandy Beach. Kind of sad to hear only older people choose Sandy Beach... Wife wanted Blizzard Pearl, but it was not available with the package we wanted, so we went for our second choice. Later on we learned that Blizzard Pearl costs $220 more for special color, so it made us feel better a little.
OK, I admit it, I'm over 50 and I have Sandy Beach, but geez, if there had been any decent colors to choose from I might have gotten something else. What could be more boring and old than white, dark blue, or the multiple shades of black and grey? Bright Red? been there, done that, and not thrilled with it on a Prius. Blizzard is the only one that's really interesting, but I couldn't bring myself to own 2 white cars. Oh and now that I have my gold car I really like it, so I think I'll just ignore all you aesthetically challenged young whippersnappers! Had same problem when the 2007 TCH came out. I would never have believed I would ever get a white car, but it seemed like the best color choice at the time (the blue ribbon looks terrible on the TCH IMHO). Now, of course, they have plenty of nice colors to choose from, including some nice greens.
Results updated. It seems the theory no longer holds true. However, there is still an obvious bias for black among younger prii drivers. Thanks again for all the contributions. The average and median age are still the same at 45.
yes, and you can see this in the data. White has the largest number of responses and a large standard deviation in age.
29 / Male / Blizzard Pearl Thought about Blue, but my previous car was blue. Most Asian people in their teens/20's drive white cars in my area. If you go to a Chinese mall in the Toronto suburbs in the evening, many of the cars are white. So here's my entry into the white car club.
31 M me and 31 F (wife) - dark gray exterior and interior. From my experience, old people love Gold cars. The Prius does not come in gold, so you won't see anyone over 70 driving this thing (Seriously, next time you see an old lady in a Grand Marquis, note the color).
22 - male - blue (The 2007 that I just got is blue, but I prefer the darker blue, whereas mine is the lighter blue... The lighter blue is still my second choice though. ) Man... you guys are so old!
