Is there a way for anyone (including the dealer) to transfer the NAV registered destinations, memory points, and related settings from one Prius to another? I drove a 2005 Prius for 2.5 years and have been to a lot of places I'd like to transfer to my 2008 Prius.

In the 2008 Prius, there is a screen which has two soft buttons on it labeled

Copy memory into back up tool

    and

Paste back up tool memory into vehicle

Because one gets to this screen via the Navigation Check screen, I'm thinking this is how to import/export registered destinations, memory points, etc.

I don't recall whether or not such options were present on version 5.1 of the navigation DVD.

BTW, to get to this screen on the version 07.05.10 navigation DVD

    1. Bring up the System Check Mode screen in the usual way (press and hold Info, cycle headlights on/off three times)
    2. Touch the Menu soft button to display the Diagnosis Menu screen
    3. Touch the Navigation Check soft button to display the Navigation Check screen
    4. Touch the Memory Copy/Paste soft button to display the Memory Copy/Paste screen

    Two questions:

Q1. Does the version 5.1 DVD have an export mechanism?
Q2. What is a "back up tool" and how do I get one (or might the dealer have one -- as part of some other tool -- and not know it)?

I was having an issue with my Navigation system resetting back to the "I Agree" screen (which is has only done about six times in the past year and a half) and Toyota recommended that my dealer just replace my Navigation system. This was done yesterday, and all my memory points, etc. are gone (obviously; they are in the old computer).

I found your post earlier in the day, and alerted my dealer about the possibility of preserving the data, but they didn't know anything about the "Back Up Tool."

I have a call in to Toyota (an ongoing case I have for a Navigation and Bluetooth bug in my 2007) and when they contact me I will find out more about the "Back Up Tool." I already left a message with my dealer to ask them to hold on to my old unit until we figure out if it's possible to get my data back.

Perhaps this was only for R&D and development, but if so, Toyota needs to let their customers know they are going to lose all their data. I could have at least written down notes about what I had in there.

    Hmmm

I have a 2005 Prius with Nav and I see the "I Agree" screen every time I start the car??

I thought this was normal on the older cars... as my 2008 does not have this screen.

Yes, but it shouldn't reset while you are using the system. In other words, my navigation system occasional reboots back to the startup screen. Even after they replaced my nav computer, it has done it at least once so it's probably a short in my car somewhere.
