Is it true that the headlights do not turn off automatically when you leave/lock the car? No bells to warn you either?
Is there a fix for this/

No, it's not true. If you leave them on, they will turn off automatically when your turn the car off, after some set delay.

30 seconds is the default setting from the factory. Did you close all the doors and hatch? They stay on until all the doors and hatch are closed.

It will definitely turn off before draining your battery. The default was 30 seconds, but if you want them to go off immediately, you can press the lock button on the remote again. If you press lock, lock, the headlights will go off immediately.

I don't know about this but I do know that upon locking the car w/finger on door handle my lights turn off after about 30 seconds. ;) I think that it must be true that the lights will go off at some time before the battery is run down after the car is turned off but left unlocked.

I did notice that mine Prius III headlight stays on after I lock the car with the handle. I will look into that again because I would love to have it turn off by itself.

Doesn't it beep twice if you try to lock the handle while they're on? Isn't this enough of a warning?

Easiest way is to just press the lock button twice after exiting the car. Then when you get back in the car and start it, your headlights automatically go on. My friend does this in his Gen II so that he is always visible to other drivers. It's his way of dealing with no daytime running lights.

    That's because you have a Gen 2

Were the lights on when the car was running? If you turn the headlights on after you shut off the car then lock the door, it will not turn off the headlight automatically.
