I'm picking up my new 2010 Prius next week. Has anyone had the iPod integration cable installed on theirs? I know you can use the 12V and aux input in the center console but I was interested in using the steering wheel controls and Nav display to work my iPod. Wondering if it's really worth $300 to buy and have Toyota put it in or if I really need it at all.

Thanks for your help--I'm really looking forward to joining the Prius crowd!:)

I'm interested in this too but couldn't get anyone to answer my previous post. If you're a how-to person, you might save some money doing it yourself. It's definitely worth it many times over the aux. It's less cabling, integrated control, and automatic charging.

If anyone has it, may I hijack your post and ask how well it works? I say this because I've used the Dice on a 2008 and it works fairly OK and is about half less than the Toyota equivalent for the 2010.

I have it, but because I also have sat radio I am not using it at all :(
Other than that, the sound quality is much, much better than in my previous car with the AUX connection.

I dont know how to go to my artists or playlists and CHOOSE certain items that i want to listen to. If you guys know how to work the controls please reply or let me know of a way that i can figure it out. thanks

I got my 10 with all the stuff and the intergration is so simple it is scary.... The Iphone pushed the phone numbers so fast I did not think it worked.. did it again and got 2 loads... The Ipod is just the same. It bonds quickly and is great thru the sound system. Little slow on the start up. You can't bond to the player on the go. Must do it at startup..

radar cruise is the best ever. lane keeper is better at high speed and interstate. Wobbles all over the place if you are slow or on a sloppy painted road.

I'm interested in installing the PT545-00082 adapter in a Gen III Prius II that doesn't have a satellite radio installed. I know that this model is satellite radio capable, but here is my question: Even though the satellite radio wasn't installed, is all the hardware and cabling that is needed between the head unit and the glove box connector in place so that I can just plug in the iPod adapter?

I'm just going by assumptions here, but I don't think it's prewired. I installed the Dice version into a 2008's cd-changer port in the stereo. However, the Dice had a switch to operate in cd-change or satellite radio mode. I think it's just the cd-changer port that the ipod kit connects to, so if you have satellite, you can't install the ipod-kit's connector to it since it's already being used.

Either way. Once you go iPod, there's no need for sat radio. I had it on a previous car and I'd rarely use it. It's "cool" to say you have it but not as nice as having the music you like at the point of your fingertips, no commercials.

FYI, I've bought and will be installing the Dice ipod kit on my Prius II. If anyone's interested in how it works, I'll post an update later this week. I've come to the assumption it works because the original Toyota kit fits the Camry and other 2007+ models just the same as the Dice.

I got my dealer to throw in the Ipod cable (the one that plugs directly into the bag of the head unit) with purchase of my Prius III but did not opt for (even reduced price) dealer installation - yet. I'm hoping I can do this myself if too much doesn't have to be disassembled to plug it in. Can anyone describe / diagram the process of accessing the back of the head unit to plug in the cable? I assume you then would just route it through a hole in one of the glove boxes - a hole that presumably would need to be created?

Thanks for any help that you can supply!

    cheers,
    -t

I wanted to get the ipod cable installed with my new Prius - but my dealer told me it was not possible and to wait for the usb adapter that is coming in august/september. I have the JBL system, but not the navigation.

So, has anyone got an ipod cable connected and working and getting full control through the head unit?

The dice was much less expensive than the OEM. However, let me tell you, it didn't work.

I installed it like I've installed any other ipod kit. I've got hte Prius II Gen3 and the stereo supports SAT. I installed the Dice as a CD Changer so I disconnected the plug behind the stereo, hooked the Dice into it, and then connected the plug I disconnected unto the other end of the Dice. I don't know why there was a connection on the CD Changer port since I don't have a CD Changer.

Long story short, it worked fine until I turned off the car and then back on. After that, the ipod would still charge (also meaning connections were good) but it wouldn't play anything. I'd even choose a song from the ipod directly and it wouldn't play through the speakers. Later I played with it a bit more and changed the Dice's config to SAT mode and it worked fine, but again it only worked until I turned the car off and back on.

I had no problems whatsoever installing this same model on a 2008 Prius. I have concluded it doesn't work well with the car and am selling it to buy the more expensive OEM. At least now you guys know so you don't spend the money like I did.

I've had two Dice units (one on a 2005 Prius and one on a 2006 HiHy) and both failed after a year or so. Normally I'd fess up to operator error, but I just found too many issues with the Dice units. I ended up disconnecting both and tossing them. Hopefully others have had better luck. I'm not sure what I'm doing for the 2010....hopefully I should have mine in a week or so and I'll see what I can get to work with my 3GS iPhone.

Hey guys...I'm interested in this too. I have a Prius II and am curious if I get the Oem kit, or the kit sold on PC (is it the same thing?), how does it integrate? Do you get artist/playlist navigation through the stereo display? do the steering wheel controls let you navigate? The non-Nav screen is pretty small, but if they have some kind of ipod control setup it'd be fantastic...love to hear some success stories...installation procedures would be awesome too...

    Thanks!

I have the PC Dice kit for a Gen2 as well. It's a base model without SAT, but it should work the same. It is all integrated into the car just like any other model. It's easy to setup by removing the lower glove box. I installed it to act as a CD Changer so it appears to have 6 CDs. You can get the OEM kit, but if you happen to have the Base model w/o SAT on the stereo, it won't work and you'll have to get the Dice kit or something similar.

I have an II, so it is satellite ready, but doesn't have the receiver(or whatever). My salesperson told me the OEM thing would work...were they wrong? How hard of an install the Dice kit?

did you install it or did it come on the Prius when you picked it up? If it came on the Prius, they did not give you an instruction manual? enjoy

I've had the Ipod Integration kit (PT545-00082) installed today on my Gen III. My SAT radio is still working and guess what? The interface is not. It's charging my Ipod but nothing more. Can anyone help me? It's Friday and Monday is Labour Day. I'm really looking forward to have that on my car.
    Thank you

How much did your dealer charge you to install the unit? My dealer wants $ 575 for the kit and installation, Seems like a lot of money.
