Does anyone know how to find out where these cars are going? I know that unless the full VIN is listed on Dealer's page, the car could be going anywhere. So how does one find out where they car is going?

My dealer is OK - they even get a lot of cars. But they haven't come close yet to what I am looking for: 2010 IV, Silver w/ SunRoof. I'm in Florida and I monitor the SE Toyota page(s) as best I can.

I'm trading in a 2005 Prius when the 2010 comes in, but it feels like the longer I wait, the more miles on the 2005, the less I'll get on the trade. This is a frustratingly long wait so far.

Congrats to those of you who have your 2010's.

Well I don't know about allocationsbut you can check every dealers inventory in the area through Edmunds.com. My dealer has 8 in stock and that looks to be average here (they must not sell to good in St. Louis)

    Mcamp52;

    1. "How do you find out where the cars are going?
The word Allocate means "alloted to, or assigned to someone" this means all cars on the ships bound for the U.S. are assigned to one of the Toyota regions, which are part of the 3 separate Toyota Importers (TMS-Toyota Motor Sales, SET-SouthEast Toyota and GST-Gulf States Toyota), these Importers in turn "allocate" these cars to their respective "Dealers", based on their previous sales volumes.

Any "Dealer" can look up on their "Dealer Daily" (a dealers computer system that tracks incoming Toyota's) and tell you what dealers in their region are receiving.

    2. Unless the VIN's listed on the page, the car could be going anywhere.
ALL cars (and their respective VINs) on the ships ARE assigned to a specific dealer, they're NOT just loaded on the ship and sent to the U.S., hoping some dealer will take them and try to sell them.

    3. How does one find where the cars go?
Again, have your dealer look up on their "Dealer Daily" and tell you what they have coming on the next ship that's allocated to them. If that batch of cars does not meet your criteria, have them do a "locator" to see if there is some other dealer in your area that has one incoming that fullfills your requirements.

    4. Dealer hasn't come close to having what your looking for.
    SEE number 3s answer.

If I've made any erronious statements, I'm in hopes Jabber, DeadPhish or Diane will correct me and update you on the correct procedure.

Best of luck Finding Your Desired Vehicle!

I'm not getting the feeling that my dealer is working to find what I want. Seems more like he's waiting it for to just show up on the lot. I'm looking for the IV; 1227; silver; misty gray; solar panel. If you have any info on where one might be available, that would be great. Email is [email protected]

    David,

I already put a deposit to order a V without AT in Sandy Beach color three weeks ago. But the dealer never gave me an estimate of deliver date. Do you think the dealer should be able to locate my car through your methods?

    Thanks.

Repeating what my sales guy is saying to me: In the Denver region there are no incoming V/ATP cars in blue or gray for them to trade for, and he's getting none in any color. They can find them in CA, but those dealers will only trade for a V/ATP in a different color.
