I have been watching the window tint discussions. I have come up with a couple of questions though. I have been looking at the different window tints and am trying to decide between Solar Gard High Performance film like their True Grey or Charcoal and the FormulaOne Pinnacle film.

I was wondering what everybody when with and how you are liking it so far. Was there any problems with having the little front done or RF reception. I now the GPS antenna is in the dash and should not be affected.

I am in the Riverside area of So. California If any one can recommend someone they used that has experience with a Prius

    Thanks,

FormulaOne Pinnacle 30. No tint allowed on windshield in SC.

No reception problems noticed, but that was supposed to be one of the benefits of ceramic...

I just did FormuleOne Pinnacle 50% on all windows except the winshield. I like it to look consistent rather than darker on the back windows, like many people have. Plus the heat rejection for the 50% was very similar to that of the 30. And tints on the black car look cool too.

What part of CA are you in? I got a fix-it ticket in San Jose from SO for less than your 50% - and I work with the police! :guns:

I live in SF and work in Mountain View. I actually see quite a few cars on the road lately with tint on the front that's 50% or darker.

How much is the fix-it ticket for?

The cost of the fixit ticket is like a $10 fee to the court, but the cost of removing the tint is the expensive part. Mine was suppose to be legal and that is what I had paid for. Then it turns out the shop did install a higher percent than allowed. They replaced it for free. The CHP would not sign off the ticket until I either removed it or put on legal stuff and showed them documentation that I had done the work. On the bright side, the CHP officers said there is no way they would ticket someone for that unless they were being a jerk to them on some other offense. The SO had pulled me over for just the tint. He told me no percent of tint was allowed on the drivers and passengers window. He did not know the law and the CHP confirmed this with me. And he also warned me not to drive with my fog lights on unless I was off road. He was an idiot as fogs are allowed as long as the regular headlights are on.

Your probably safe, but you never can tell when they might get a hair up their butt.
