Wow. Remember when installing clear tail lights was all the rage? Figures we would go backwards the minute it went mainstream with all the OEMs. Give it another year and people will be replacing shark fin antennas with CB whips!

They look really classy on the Silver. I bet they'd look good on the black or white also. I'm not sure about the Seaside Pearl we have on order. Don't know which I'd prefer, but unique always has something going for it. Have you read the "has this ever happened to you?", thread?
Yea! Re: styles. My dad told me to keep my ties. I think I have them from 1" to about 4"s. I threw the ones with food on away. Point being your right about styles. We've seen our share if fashion cycles in >66 years.

Sign me up. I hate the clears. It says low-class ricer to me (not a racial term, but the automotive one).

I like the stock ones myself. The car is a high class ricer I guess you could say.

I would ideally choose red on top, where the brake light actually turns on. The present style in my view is visually confusing, red lens only near the bottom, while the brake light turns on near the top.

I love those red lights from sigma but they are so expensive! Has anyone found anything similar anywhere else?

Bino, that black vinyl roof is awesome. It's inspiring me to attempt to do that to my spoiler to make it more 2010-prius like...

I also tinted my tail lights. Mine came out a bit to dark. Anyone willing to trade?

Are the red lenses or light assemblies available? I don't like the clear look either. Too ricey.

    The reds are available here:

World's Largest Prius-dedicated Accessory Shop :: Sigma Automotive

I've already mounted the dark-top '04/'05 tail lights on my '08.
My intention was to "stretch" the under-spoiler black glass horizontally.
It does that, but now I want to darken the whole light. "Black chrome,"
is also available from the above, but it is darker that what I really
    want. :(

I want the reflector itself to be tinted, not the clear lens.I do not
consider tint films or sprays to be an acceptable alternative --
    a personal problem.

What I really want are "smoke crystal" tail lights. This shade is about
halfway between chrome and black chrome.

Heck, I'd even get crystal black headlights if I could find them.

If I find them, I'll be sure to do all my driving "off road." :D

    Whoa! I'm just the messenger.

It is what it is; genuine JDM.

I can't justify the cost. Modding isn't about being rational, there is no
quantifiable "pay back." It has to do with a sense of style, achieving a
    "look," making a statement.

Some folks will pay that for new rims, tires are extra. Some for new
audio. Others for an "aero kit," with color-match painting extra. Some
    for an exhaust system.

Modding is brutally and unforgivably simple. It's all about the doe-ray-me.
You can go half-way with tint film or spray, or you can get the real
thing. Your choice. But you know, half way, or all the way.

You have to pay to play.
