July 13--I called Dianne in CA and told her what I was looking for.
July 14--Dianne located the car I wanted, still on the boat on it's way from Japan, and traded another dealer for it.
    July 15--The ship reached port.
July 23--The car arrived at Dianne's lot.
July 24--We completed the paperwork and financials.
July 27--The car was loaded on the transporter and left CA.
July 29--The car arrived in Austin, but too late to deliver.
    July 30--Car delivered around 10 am. :D

What is that, 2 weeks and 3 days from start to finish? Not bad at all. LOL I'm a very happy owner today!

My wife just traded in her beloved 2007 Prius Touring Edition package 6 in Blue/Bisque with only 17.1K miles for: Gen III IV + NAV, Blue Ribbon Metallic / Gray.

Purchased in Lemon Grove, CA for $1000 under MSRP with carpeted floor & cargo mats and wheel locks. Trade-in matched the local CarMax appraisal / 7 day offer.

Great timing! Did you CARS trade? If so, what did you junk? Congrats! Enjoy the new ride!

It was a really fast process, looking back on it, Seemed slow at the time! LOL

I didn't do CARS--my 2002 CR-V gets 23 MPG, so it doesn't qualify and it's hard to trade a car from Texas to California. :)

    Congrats on getting yours too!

I finally get to vote in my poll!

Purchased a Winter Grey IV solar with Misty Grey interior today. It came with dark grey floormats -- and a light grey cargo mat (soft, like a bath mat), which I was not expecting.

Purchased from a dealer near Baltimore, MD on a tip from fellow PC'er Mr.Scott.Com. I only had to wait just over a week because they already had it coming in when he told me about it.

Paid MSRP - $15,000 trade-in for 2006 Prius Pkg 3 + tax and tags. $100 dealer processing fee was waived.

The salesman was fine but the dealership tried to renege on our agreement at the last minute, which I'll write about at greater length in another thread. But it worked out okay in the end and I'm really happy with my car!

    • Package II w/no options
    • Black exterior and grey interior
    • Yesterday! July 31, 2009
    • It was $22,950 + tax, title license and $194 service fee and $525 for the Xzylon coating...bringing it to a little about $24,750. I participated in the cash for clunkers program, which knocked 4,650 off and I ended up paying $20,100 for the complete package.
I was not impressed at all with the dealership .

    • I signed the contract Tuesday, but could not pick up the car until I got previous title/registration from another state proving I'd owned the car for longer than one year. :(

    • I got the info to them Wednesday, but they didn't schedule my delivery until Saturday. As you may all know~the CARS program was suspended Thursday night...you think I was a little pissed Friday morning??
    • I ended up buying the Prius anyway though from them because the only other Prius' IN STOCK within a 60 MILE radius were white...and that's a dealbreaker for me, driving a white car!
    • Than to top it all off, now I find that this Xzylon crap is a scam and I paid 500 bucks for it...I feel like I fell for the oldest trick in the book.
It was my FIRST new car purchase and I am very happy with the car, but very unhappy with the process.

    Thanks for letting me vent!

Anyone else have experience with Xzylon?

    Hi all,
I've learned so much from y'all and it's made my decision to go with a '10 Prius very easy.
Went to a dealer on July 11 for my 1st and only test drive.
Ordered a III with Solar/Nav, and Barcelona Red, dark gray interior.
They did their immediate search for the car, and came back to me asking my secondary choice (color). I said "I'll wait". :mod:

The very next day, they called with great news---they found one that matched my preference. It was the only one in the DENVER region that was available!! I put down a $1000 deposit.
It arrived on the 24th, but I was out of town for several days and could not take delivery. (I had the salesman hide the key---no one's test driving my ride!!)
Finally, on the 29th, I took the car on a test drive. It had 2 miles on the odo. While waiting to see the finance guy, a couple of salesmen came up to me and offered this---some potential buyers wanted to trump my "hold" money" in an effort to steal the car away!!!! Fortunately for me, the dealer knows how to spell i-n-t-e-g-r-i-t-y.

I think my red III with solar just might be a very scarce auto in this region!

Just drove home a shinny black, package 3. I have quietly researching new cars for a while. Had no real intent to purchase until my wife injured her lower back and could use the clutch on our Subaru wagon.

Learned about the cars program 8 days ago, test drove last Saturday, gave them a 1995 Chevy S10 my daughter was driving on Tuesday and picked up the new car today. The cars program was a frustrating experience, but working with Chris at Rhinelander Toyota made it my best new car buying experience to date.:)

I ordered my Prius beginning of July (though I have been planning since April I had to wait to have the cash to pay for it). It took until July 27th to get it and it was the best B-day gift! Prius 2010 III - Silver , and gray int. I paid MSRP, ordered remote start, they gave me the mats and $500 for my "needs to be crushed" - 93 Honda. Ralph Hayes Toyota was wonderful, they loaned me a car while I waited for my Prius, in exchange for my leaking into from the window/dash vehicle, no air conditioner, can't drive over 50 without the car trying to shake apart - Honda. :) My heros.

I got package iv barcelona red with tented windows, leather seats bisque color, floor mats and wheel locks.
I waited 2 weeks and got it 7/31/2010. We were worried that the cash for clunkers had stopped. We live in Lake Placid Fl. and could not deal with the dealer here. One charge they wanted was a market adjustment for this area of $3999.99 also dealer fees of $ 695.00. We went to Earl Stewart Toyota in north palm beach Florida Home of the no dealer fees. We also got $4750.00 for the clunker Lincoln we had. The junk dealer came up with the extra price so he could part it out after killing the motor. I love my prius.

I got a Blizzard Pearl Prius III, misty gray interior. Only options are floor mats, 40% ceramic tint on all 9 windows, and remote engine start. I took delivery on 7/28/09 from Beaver Toyota, Santa Fe (please contact me if you would like a referral with this dealer and I think I can get you a better price -- I got ~$400 off MSRP). I waited two months for my car after placing the order. My most desired accessory at this point is FOG LIGHTS!! Would appreciate any help in this regard (dealer says they can't do it, but I think they are giving up too easily).

My wife and I got our 2010 Prius on Aug 1, 2009 at Hansel Toyota in Petaluma, CA. We took part in the CARS program, got the full $4500 for our falling-apart '98 Jeep (still sorry to see the old girl go, though...). Dealer only had a handful of '10 Prius's (Priui for plural?) and they were going fast. Crazy day, that's for sure. So no wait for us; the one we drove home was on the lot.

Ours is Prius IV with Nav, Barcelona red, cream/beige interior, leather trim seats, etc. We test drove the Ford Fusion first but were not impressed at all, so we walked across the street to Toyota. Great move! We test drove the light grey/silver '10 first, a model V with solar sunroof. We were both amazed by it but weren't really crazy about the color (or the price as the sunroof wasn't a requirement). But then my wife spied ours, "oohh, what about that red one?". And there you have it. Those cars were just flying out of there, almost like multiple buyers in a property bid!

They absolutely were not doing any deals (they didn't have to!), but they weren't gouging anyone either. We paid MSRP minus the $4500 CARS and a little cash down. Dealer did throw in some all-weather mats for us.

Wow, what a lot to get used to! No key, all the tech inside and out, almost a whole new way of driving. Pretty amazing car. And very nice to find this community too. Already learned a lot from all you folks, so thanks - I'll try to pay it forward.

    Best to all,

    Eric
