I just picked up my 2010 Prius IV in Classic Silver (with nav, but no solar :( )yesterday and I'm already looking for ways to mod it. I just ordered the door sill protectors and a rear bumper protector from PC shop and center caps from parts.com. I'd like to add a pinstripe to the car (and, depending on the durability, I might have the rims painted to match), but am afraid it might look weird.

Does anyone here have a pinstripe on their 2010..and, if so, could you please post a pick of your pinstriped baby? Thanks!

One of my first mods. Wanted something understated. Tried several widths and colors. Black with two 1/16" won out. Bought at PepBoys. Install was so simple. Clean areas and just adhere where you want to start and stretch a bit to the end of the first panel moving it closer to the body as you move it in - a perfect line. I decided to mount mine about 1/8" below the crease to accent. Happy with the effect.

The only pinstripe I ever had was on a '98 Accord, where the dealer tried to pass it and a couple of other things off as an "Appearance Package" for $659. They did a crappy job on it, and within a week of taking delivery I peeled all that crap off the car.

Gangster whitewalls, well, that might be a sweet look. :p

Understated black pinstripe looks nice on barcelona red. There's one other forum member with more obvious pinstripe on his blue Prius and it looks nice as well.

The problem, though, is they tend to go in and out of style rather quickly. Same with any special body modifications such as plastic on the lower half of the vehicle body like as those found on the early Lexus models and late 1980s/early 1990s Mustangs.

That's my problem...I like pinstripes, but i know they go in and out of style so quickly. Iwas going to get a metallic rose pinstripe (somewhere between a baby pink and a bubble gum pink) on my classic silver metallic Prius (the combination looks really great!), but I'd rather do something that will stay more in style.

I would leave it alone, but the car looks so blah without any contrast...

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

A more understated black pinstripe like Dean's would have far more staying power and provide the contrast you desire. Of course, the only way to stay completely in style is to leave it alone but it's your car and not anybody's else so do as you wish.

Don't try to stalk..... I have locking lug nuts. ;)

And not the $60 or so Toyota port installed - $10 at AutoZone.

A few more pics. I wanted "to be different" although the '10 is still an oddity around here (like me I'd guess). It is very subtle and completely removable. Not like plastic surgery or such.

Headlamp washers - standard with the V. And IMO a waste of $$ - can't see that I would ever use them.

How's Chgo? My old hometown. Was just there last week (flew).

    Hi Alan:

Unfortunately, your link didn't work. I was able to view the photo through your Profile info. Very nice. The car I have on order is Blizzard Pearl with Solar Panels so this gave me a better view of what mine might look like with them.

Here is a link to your picture:

Where did you get your Bodyside Mouldings? Prius Chat Shop?

Edward, thanks so much for posting the photo.

I got the body mouldings from a local fellow who does that kind of work. He was recommended by a neighbor who sells cars. I gave him the color of the car, and it took him about a week to get them. He ordered them from someplace in Ohio. If you need more info, I'll be glad to call him and find out exactly who he gets them from.

    Thanks again,

    alan

Re: pinstripe on my Winter Grey 2010

I had my dealer put on a very subtle off white pinstripe (actually two narrow and close together) on my Winter Grey IV. Given the normal price of most of the Toyota options I was very surprised that the stripes and the installation was "free'. Yes, I said it, FREE. They did a great job and I really like the looks - they highlight the wedge shape of the car and make it look more sporty. I am not sure how long they will last but until I start seeing them start to chip off I will really enjoy the look.

OEM body mouldings for the Gen III 2010 Prius can be purchased in Canada.

I've always disliked and avoided pinstripes because they remind me of the stickers on model cars and toys. Nonetheless I ended up with 2 narrow black pinstripes on my new Prius because my dealer installed them during the 'prep' without my knowledge. I suppose they must have been included when my car was originally ordered for someone else. In any event, the pinstripes weren't yet installed when my husband and I went down to sign the final paperwork but when I picked up the car a couple days later - there they were.

We didn't pay anything extra for them since our purchase price was fixed when we ordered the car so I thought about pitching a fit and having them removed. However, in the end I decided to live with them for a while and see if they grow on me. I kind of like the contrast of the black on white. They shouldn't be difficult to remove later on, right?

I can't post a photo today because my car is kind of dirty (and no, I haven't bothered to take any photos of the car since I've owned it) but I will try to post one later this week if somebody doesn't post a similar photo first.
