Thought I'd spruce up the front end a bit. Didn't really want to get the Modellista garnish. Bought a can of Duplicolor platinum-like paint. Masked off the area this morning and done. Pics attached.

Question - Should the bottom air dam horizontal slats get the treatment too? My gut says no - too 'pimpy'. Think I'll leave it as is.

I vote for no. Too much, IMO. I like clean and your car is that right now.

Actually I kind of like it. I don't think I'd do it myself but I do like it, it's subtle but personal.

I think what you've done looks good. I also agree and vote for not doing anymore. I find understatement desirable. Looks good. More would be overkill.

if it's not too much trouble, can you post a detail pic? did you paint just the front of the grille? and is the color "chromy?" or more like a metallic silver?

I think doing the badge was a nice touch since the blue doesn't look good on a red car, but I wouldn't keep finding new things to do... It begins to become overkill.

Funny! - My GF emailed me after I sent her the pic today. She warned me about too much "Prius plastic surgery". Actually, I'm done. Only thing left is glovebox(es) felt to be installed.

Decided not to accent the air dam slats - overkill is right.

Young - I will take a closeup pic tomorrow and provide info on the paint type used.

Thanks for all the input folks! Love PC!

I like it, too, as it is. Should you shoot some clear over what you did already?

You and I have similar ideas, I thought this might look too GenII-ish, but it does look nice! I have a few rolls of a brushed-stainless looking vinyl decal that I was going to use instead of paint. The plus side being it is removable if I change my mind. I can send you some of that to cut into slits and try on the bottom slats but I think it looks better with just the top grill the way you have it now. Try it in photoshop first and let me know if you want some of this stuff.

I have a Barcelona Red IV on order, due in 23 days. I am planning on doing the badge mod that you did. They also have a red fiber. That would get rid of the blue but would be a more subtle look. What do you think?

Here's a couple more pics. Masking took a bit of time and there's a couple areas that are tough to get just right. Color I used was Pewter as I didn't want it too silvery or "chromy". I painted the entire slat - front and top. Two coats and one coat of clearcoat.
In the end, quite pleased with the look - it looks as though it came off the line that way.
Will not do the lower air dam slats. Took a good look at the front end from angles today, and it would be just too much - Cadillac-like. Thanks for all your input!

Leave as is. Your next mod should be to convert those useless headlight washers into under the hood machine guns so you can go ED-209 on anyone you don't like.

Blood on Barcelona Red shouldn't be too noticeable with the lack of headlight washers either.

hopefully i'll be getting a red two in a couple of weeks

i like the grille but think it would look better in black to match the lower grille

btw i also like the sigma replacement badge, the blue doesn't work with the red.

Leave as is. What a great idea. I have the red as well, and think the blue toyota seal looks borderline hideous. Guess I'll be heading to the paint store:rockon:
