Totally hear you here... I washed my last weekend only to find tar oil all over the rear quarter panels. I was able to get it off with RainX bug and tar remover. Worked great with no ill effects.

Ok...a couple of things happened today.

First of all, thank you MaggieMay for the welcome! :)

I got to the dealership to pick up my Blue III and the salesman told me that he had to back order the mud guards. He was under the impression that the guards from the '09 for work and they don't. So, everyone here is correct; mine will take approximately 3 weeks to come in.

Here is where I admit to my stupidity...in public. I completely forgot to take my SUV's title with me. In order to take advantage of the Cash for Clunkers, one must provide proof of insurance for the last 12 months (a letter from the insurance company) and the title of the vehicle being traded. I felt like an idiot. To make matters worse, after the 1-hour drive home, I have searched everywhere and can't mind my title. I will check in my safe deposit box tomorrow, but if it's not there, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I have enough money that I can puchase the car by myself (and keep the monthly payments at $280-ish), but I really wanted that extra $4,500. Also, I'm not sure what I would do with my 14 year-old SUV. We'll see tomorrow, I guess!

Check with your state DMV. They should have a process for replacing a lost title certificate. Just google lost title certificate and your state and you should be able to find the process easily enough. In Minnesota the process for obtaining a duplicate title certificate is simple and cheap:

To replace a lost or damaged title, just complete the duplicate title form and take it to Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) location. Or just fill out the form at the office.

Only the vehicle owner or a legal representative of the owner may apply for the title.

Your duplicate title will then be issued for $9, plus the $8.50 filing fee. Should you find the original title later, return it to a DVS location

To apply by mail, send the duplicate title form and your payment to:

    • Driver and Vehicle Services

    • 445 Minnesota St. Suite 168

    • St. Paul, MN 55101

Thanks to the ones who have offered suggestions on how to replace the title. It's the "several weeks" thing that bothers me since I'm trying
to take advantage of Cash for Clunkers. The money ran out while this
car was in transit to Alabama, which really scared me. I'm afraid that,
even though most of the paperwork has been completed, I will miss the
Cash for Clunkers deadline (or the program will run out of money again)
by the time the title arrives.

I'll do some checking around with my DMV (and today is Saturday...
    great!) and see what happens.
