Boy were you lucky to get a discount. The dealers in Phoenix that I called claimed that they were not discounting the 2010 Prius at all and I had tried to go through Costco to get a better price and that did not work.

I asked for scrap value and was told there isnt any. I "Traded in" a 96 explorer on 2010 Prius IV last sunday.

(Btw, we need another utility like vehicle so we are going to buy another used explorer likely 2002+ B^)

My 1995 Buick Roadmaster sedan brought me $96 from the dealer (Byers Toyota in Delaware, Ohio) - in addition to the "clunkers" amount of $4500, and I didn't even know about it until the dealer told me.

    I appreciate their honesty. :)

The paper my dealer had me sign said the estimated scrap value was $350.00 but that the scrap money went back to the gvmt. If the actual scrap value is less than $350, so be it, that's all the gvmt gets, but if the scrap value went above the $350, then any over that would come back to us.

My dealer said it was $50 to them and anything else is in a check to me. I'm off to the dealership now for delivery so we'll see what actually is in writing at that point in time...:D

Received $176 scrap on top of $4,500 CFC for my 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL. Not really a "clunker" but the $4,500 was about $500 more than I would have gotten selling it myself. Dealt with Metro Toyota in Kalamazoo, MI (having bought 6 Toyotas from them in the 1980's & 1990's) and have always found them to be fair to deal with. Actually got $300 off list on 2010 GIII V w/Nav.

How is scrap value figured. I called my dealer and asked if I was getting scrap value. Since I don't have the bill for the car yet and that is another point of contention I have dicussed in another Thread. He said $150 minus $50 the dealer is allowed to keep. Seems the scrap values listed are all over the place? How does one figure out if the dealer is telling you the truth on the scrap value he is getting for your clunker. I am not happy with the $398 in dealer fees the dealer added on to my msrp and the $169 he tried to slip by me for window etching. I certainly don't trust he is going to give me the money over $50 in scrap value he is allowed to keep.
