I always thought the magnets were in the large vehicles, because I notice it regardless of what I drove.

    ;)

Over the years, I've come to realize many of the tailgaters are not being malicious ... rather they do it out of sheer ignorance that it's offensive and dangerous, and simply do it as a bad habit. The same people who'll fear being with a driver that dodges in & out betwwn lanes, or speeds, will inexplicably have no issue with tail gating.

    First post!

Just got a 2010 Prius IV with SR! I'm not sure if this is an obscure fact for this generation or not but I can Bluetooth stream audio from one phone while having a second phone connect for dialing and receiving calls. Pretty cool feature.

One bad thing about having a new car is I'm no longer willing to momentarily hit the brakes to scare off a tailgater. In the 1995 Honda Accord I traded in for my Prius I almost wanted them to hit me. Now, not so much.

here is how I would use Trip A and Trip B

Trip A : every time you fill in the gas
Trip B: every time you change oil/ rotate tires etc

I'd say once every week or 2 some jerk decides that riding my tail will get me to drive faster. I very briefly tap the brake pedal--not enough to slow down, but enough to scare them into slowing down. :D

I do Trip A the same, but run Trip B for every "trip" to see my commute to work and then the commute home. My commute is about 45 miles each way so it tells how I did. Now, I have just had my Prius two weeks, so doing this will probably get old sometime in the near future :)

Maybe you need to wash your windshield more. That sometime causes the magnetic field to weaken and the tailgater slows down or increases the field and the tailgater is lanched around you.

My wife says it's a temporary loss of control that large vehicle drivers experience when they realize how much they're paying for gas.

Be very careful with this. About once a decade, one of those jerks who is furious about me going only the speed limit in the slow lane tries to see how much rubber he can transfer from the rearmost tire of his first (not second) trailer to my door.

The Toyotas that are made in Japan have the two square cut-outs where the tie-down bolts for the ship are connected. That is the quick way to see whether the vehicle was assembled in US or Japan. Of course, for now, all Prius are from Japan, so all have the cut-out.

Tapping the brake in illegal in some states and not good thing to do. Generally the tailgater is looking pass you. The other night I was in the left land lane passing slower cars in the right lane. Two cars came racing up from behind. One passed on the right blocking my return to the right lane and a thrid car filled in behind that car in the right lane. The second car pull directly behind me so close (within inches) I was afraid he would return to the right lane when the tracffic cleared in the right lane... and make a quick pass on the right. But he was hugging the left side looking passed me I slowly moved to the left to block his view. He stay for a couple of second and then passed me on the right. I didn't make eye contact and I pretended that I never saw him. I did read the window banner in the review mirror, it was the web site for my least favority Car stealership in the area. Good thing they don't sell prii. Now back to the topic:focus:

Not sure if this was posted already here but if one presses and holds the Mode on the stearing wheel, it will power off the radio. To turn the radio back on, just press Mode again.

And if approaching a traffic light that turns yellow, press the brake enough to light up your brake lights, (they think you are going to stop), while pressing the accelerator to go through the yellow. Voila, no tailgater.:hurt:

The large eyebolts aren't just for automobile shipping. Lookee here...

Now, if I could re-install mine and have them spin around (as Robby's do) as I drive, then I'll feel like I've really accomplished something spectacular.

generally... other times, it's just for the heck of it (e.g. you're in the right lane with the left lane empty and they're on your tail for absolutely no logical reason)

The speedometer works when you go in reverse.

There is a place to hang your fuel tank cap in the inside of the fuel filler door while you are refueling. (I drove a 1987 Toyota Corolla for 20+ years and had never seen this feature before.)

Hardly unique to the Prius. That's been a feature in cars for years.
