Have an 08 metallic gray that has a nice mettalic flake in the paint. I have not seen winter gray in person, does this have the same mettalic look? Thanks so much.

The winter gray does have the metallic flakes, though they are not as many or as noticeable as the metallic gray to my eyes. The winter gray is also a bluer gray compared to metallic gray.

Although I like the metallic flakes also I find that the winter gray looks best with a dark coat, so that the color shifts between looking almost black to a bluish gray. I actually liked the color best when I used the Zaino Z5 to make it appears slightly darker. In the bright sunlight it appears to be an almost light gray, which I didn't like as much.

    Winter gray is great!

In the least favorite color thread, someone picked winter gray because you can't see the metallic so that should give you some idea.

Trying to get a picture of the metallic flakes in winter gray is not easy with a cell phone camera, but I managed to catch the light just at the right angle. You can see it on the left hand side. You are seeing the building from the reflection of the car.

Having said that if you want very noticeable metallic flakes you should go with another color.

It's a lot less noticeable than Magnetic Grey. It almost looks flat from afar but if you get up close, you can see the flakes. It's also a bit lighter than Magnetic Grey (and as syncmacd mentioned, it can look fairly light under bright sunlight)

Thanks for all of your repiles. The gray color looks very nice and is different thanall the standard colors- the white would be the second pick but it is more expensive.

I ordered Winter Grey Metallic - here in Germany it is the same as in the US (same ordering code 8V1).
The color choice for the Prius honestly speaking is not that great. I wanted black, but it's dull - no metallic available. BMW black is what I had in mind, and that is metallic.
I don't like whites, light grey is what everybody buys, red and blue are too bright and can be boring in the long run for me. I was left with nothing else than Winter Grey (Quartz Grau, in Germany that is).
I am pretty sure it will look wonderful - I saw a sample and it has some very subtle blue hues in it. Actually the order code starts with "8" and that is the code for the blues at Toyota. The order code for the blue Prius starts with an "8" as well.

Indeed you are right, it does have a blue hue (and the code gives it away). Congrats on your purchase!

Black Sand Pearl is the closest Toyota metallic black.

I'm surprised you say it is lighter than Magnetic Grey. I think it is quite a bit darker. But the color is very subtle -- it ranges from a basic dark grey to deep blue, deep purple, and almost black.

I haven't noticed any metallic flakes -- I guess it must have some if part of its name is metallic! (is it?)

Magnetic Grey is quite dark. Rivals Flint Mica imo. Winter Grey... maybe Phantom Grey Pearl?? or Moon Shadow Mica in terms of lightness??

I don't know. They call everything metallic or pearl now.

I really like the winter gray in person. It is very classy and does have depth - definitely an interesting gray.

I choose the blue ribbon metallic. It is just a really cool color, also with a lot of depth for a blue.
