The dealership had received 30-some Prii on Saturday and I purchased mine on Tuesday...in which they only had 12 Prii left. They're one of the bigger Toyota dealerships in Richmond, VA so they were constantly getting more Prii in~

I got my Prius at McGeorge Toyota in Richmond, VA and spoke to Cliff Harvey. We negotiated the price through email and when we agreed on a price, I came into the dealership to see the car and finish the paperwork. He's been very very helpful...even after I bought the car, I had a few more questions and he has taken the time to answer all of them. :)

I signed the papers on July 28th. I had been emailing Cliff for about a week (as well as other dealerships) and asked him to send me a copy of the invoice and we negotiated from there. It was pretty easy in my opinion. And I didn't do the Cash for Clunkers...my old car is going to my sister.

Unfortunately it was the sticker or take a hike. The only SR package on a IV to be found in this region I guess. I guess I should be glad there wasn't an up-charge.

I did my deal ($586 below MSRP) on Saturday, 8/8/09, for a 2010 Prius III, with a $4500 C4C trade (so long gas guzzling 2000 Ford Explorer!) at Toyota-Scion of Braintree (Tufankjian), south of Boston. There are at least 5 dealers within a 1 hour drive of my home in Plymouth, MA, and there seems to be plenty of inventory in the area, based on the various dealers' websites. The first dealer I talked to (Falmouth Toyota) would not negotiate on price - MSRP, take it or leave it. I pressed the issue, but they wouldn't budge. Went up to Tufankjian, and was initially told no discounts on Prii. I said fine, let's take a look at the car (they had the exact car I was looking for).

Long story short, after looking at the car, I made an offer of $1000 below MSRP, they came back with the deal I ended up taking. I didn't have to push at all, they were motivated to sell. Might have something to do with the humongous, new building they recently moved into. (Nicest dealership I've ever been in - mortgage must be enormous!) In retrospect, I might have been able to get them to come down a little more, but I didn't want to push it - I was happy with what they came back with!

Now I'm playing the waiting game unitl the C4C money comes through... ugh!

I purchased a 2010 V for $700 under list, plus the dealer added matching color body side molding and the clear bra to the hood and front bumper. I also got about $1000 more than expected for the 05 Pkg 6 Prius that I traded in. This was two weeks ago and just took it in today to have the bra and body side molding installed. They also change the reverse beep to a single beep for me at no charge. This was my first purchase from McGeorge Toyota in Richmond and have to say they have been the best dealer I've dealt with in a long time. The car I bought was on the lot the day I walked in and they had about 14 in stock over the previous weekend, but all but one were gone by the end of the day on Tuesday the 28th. My previous Prius purchase was very different. The dealer back then (2004) asked for $500 and put my name on the list. 6 months later he called and said "my car" had come in. No choice of color and MSRP, take it or leave it.

I got mine before the C4C program started. I was just curious, took a test drive and the dealer offered me a deal I couldn't resist, so I bought it on the spot! Talking about impulse buying!

Call Longo. I don't know if they are more flexible with the higher packages, but they did 400 under msrp recently for me. I say them because they are a huge dealer and probably get a large allocation of vehicles. I had Henry Lawanson close with me and he was great.

I do know there is and will be a shortage because of C4C - the articles are out there about this and battery supply.

Manhattan Beach Toyota was the only other competitive quote I got in so cal when I was looking. Although, they were acting as if under MSRP was no longer possible. Email Dianne from here.

Anyone know of dealerships within the Orange County, CA area that are offering the car below MSRP? I noticed on truecar.com that the average price paid is indeed below MSRP, but the dealerships I've contacted all sell at MSRP or higher. Thanks.

Also, any other incentives/programs/rebates to get the cost of the car down would be very helpful.

    Probably timing right now...

I'd try Drive Your Dream | Car Buying Home Page

Also, USAA, Costco, and capital one seem to use the same service although I think prices can differ...could be wrong on that though.

Well, with all my trials and tribulations in buying a Prius, I finally solved them and bought a week ago.

After having initial favorable impressions switch to unfavorable and unfavorable first impressions switch to favorable regarding certain dealers, this was solved by use of the buying service I hooked up with on Ebay. I went to the Ebay Motors site searching for a new Prius and found it, of all places. I then selected the model I wanted plus options and color and heard from three different local dealers within a half hour via email or phone. One (who didn't have the car yet in stock) offered me the car $816 over invoice, one was at invoice (big deal) and the third offered to work with me. With the latter, I sent them the email with the invoice + $816 offer (they wanted to see it). Although they said they couldn't duplicate it, they worked with me on savings for an in-stock car which I picked up the next day. This turned out out be a simple and rewarding experience. Who'd a thunk it? ;)

Got my 2010 Prius II a week ago w/carpeted floor and cargo mats, rear bumper applique, Bluetooth, and cargo net for $325 under MSRP. Not a tremendous deal, but still felt good because the dealer originally said no discounts.

I just got my Prius III /w sunroof package today! I am so happy. Here's what was included: Prius III (Winter Gray Metallic, Dark Gray carpet interior), Solar roof package (NAV, premium sound system), Mats, and rear bumper applique.

I paid $26,900 for all of this. It's too good to be true... MSRP is $27,849 + cost of mats. Did I do well?

I've been talking to dealers in SoCal AND NorCal, and nobody is willing to go below MSRP. Ontario Toyota said they would over-the-phone, but then wouldn't in person.

Paid $900 below MSRP for loaded blizzard white IV with solar in NJ...it was near closing time and we paid cash, no trade in, so that may have helped. Before that, all the dealers i talked to said no discounts, and one wanted $3000 above MSRP.

    Not for me.

I just drove 280 miles to NJ to pick up my V/ATP last Saturday. The Sandy Beach color with ATP is so rare in DC area. I had waited for over 2 months with no avail. But I am glad to find the only one within 500 miles, although the dealer did not even give me a dollar discount.
