I currently drive a new Boxster S and the Prius is totally quiet in comparison. Different cars have different features, regardless of the prestige or price.

The odd thing is that I thought the Prius I test drove over a weekend was really zippy, even when compared to the Boxster. All I need to do is add leather and XM and I think that the Pius I'll be driving will fit right in with our other cars ( our other car is a MB E320 which gets an amazing average MPG of 26-27 on the highway). Eventually, the Prius will replace the aging E320.

Back to the subject of mouldings...what is the plan for a group order? Is someone going to e-mail everyone when the details are finalized or should I just keep checking back? I saw a similar offer on E-bay. Anyone buy their side mouldings there?

I missed the last buy in and bought a set myself. I just installed them today (the weather finally cooperated).

For those that want to do it themselves, I found it pretty easy. I'm a stickler when it comes to doing things, so this is the procedure I used:

    (1) Gave the side a good cleaning.
    (2) Using a tape measure I placed a piece of masking tape at the right height at the front and rear side panels.
    (3) Using a laser level (those ones that paint a line along the wall) I shot a line using the tape as a guide.
    (4) I lined a run of masking tape along the laser line.
    (5) Using the alcohol swabs I cleaned the area.
    (6) Starting from the center (where the doors meet) I attached the molding along the masking tape edge.

I repeated for the other side. The results are perfect.

The best advice I can add is to take your time with (2) and check your measurements by eye as well as the tape measure. It's easy to introduce error, especially with the curvature of the sides.

I decided to add the line of masking tape instead of just going with the laser line because it was hard to see it in the daylight. It was easy to lift the masking tape a bit before attaching and intersect the laser light to make it noticeable for placement.

Of course I followed it by a coat of polish. :)

Newbie to the forum. Just picked up my '05 Tideland Pearl over Memorial Day weekend. Thanks to you guys, I've already learned how to shut off that annoying beeper in Reverse, where to order a sunshade, etc. etc.

Now to the business at hand -- count another interested forum member for a moulding group buy. I'll be eagerly watching this post for prices.

    Thanks Danny!

I'm in, gambling that the price will be reasonable and they look OK.

05 White, very noisy, mostly tire noise, but quieter than my '91 Ford Pickemup truck

mfa-prius, just curious... are you driving on stock tires? I'm going to start a new thread on the newly installed set I just gambled on (fairly big gamble), test drove yesterday and am totally thrilled with.

i'M going to have to pass on the custom aero package at this point, as I think my 2-day old super white, with 17" Chrome alloys, silver tint, leather and audio upgrade is sexy enough - or rather, too sexy - for me as it is!! ;)

I'm not in any form receiving any gain for saying so but i'll be posting a new thread on my experience with the 17" tire package i just had mounted at my Toyota for free.

Also, I'm going to be in contact with my audio sys installer to see if he'd be interested in contacting this site for a group buy on the custom moulded 8" sub enclosure he made for the rear right indent of the Prius cargo pocket. It works for me anyways - even though I paid full price of $120... ouch!

I haven't lost interest, I just haven't found a suitable source for the mouldings yet. The suppliers I've been in contact with want an outrageous price considering how many people we have interested in them.
