Hopefully your state will pass that law!

I was driving with the speed of traffic in the left lane and a delivery truck doing less than 50% of my speed pulled into the left lane. I slammed into the back of the truck. It sucked, drivers who drive slow - suck, truck drivers that can't see the left lane - suck.

    I LIKE IT! :p

That said, I went down to San Diego last week (I got 49.6 mpg) and I was driving early morning. There was hardly anyone on I-5 (if you can believe that!) and yet people would drive up and sit behind me when the other three lanes were EMPTY!

    Sigh.

It's like their cars were slot cars and couldn't change lanes.

Have to put in my 2 cents worth. I usually drive 2 to 3 over the limit and get in the lane the others with the saame idea do, then if someone wants to blow by me, I move over. I have 2 reasons for this 1.) the cop ahead will probably be more interested in his 10 over than my 3 over. 2.) If the driver is a complete moron, when he decides to do something stupid, he will be ahead of me where I can keep an eye on him better.

One aside to this, about 4 or 5 years ago, I daily encountered someone who felt it was necessary to be going 5mph faster than anyone else on the road. Well, one wintery morning here in MN, we were having a pretty good ice storm and the highway crews weren't out yet. So along comes speedy, doing about 50 when everyone else was at 35 to 45, he comes by me as usual. About a mile down the road, I see off in the distance a light pattern alternating red-white-red-white etc. then I see the alternating lights fly up into the air a bit, come back down and stop. As I went buy, here he was, in the center median where he hit a maintenance crossing and came back to earth on the other side. Never did see that car on the road again...

ok I admit I'm an agressive driver (read that as I go faster than the posted speed limit)
    I got a speeding ticket a while for doing 85 in a 65 (yes in my Prius..LOL)
oh and it was in the HOV lane....stupid stupid stupid...in NOVA
anyway...there I was facing a reckless driving charge and TRYING to do something close to the speed limit and finally gave up because it was safer to speed than to worry about another ticket (even little blue haired ladies in Buicks seem to do at least 75 around here)
any way here are my pet pieves
    1. If you're in the left lane, no matter how fast you're going, if someone wants to go faster just get the heck oughta the way...I do ( I don't mean this for rush hour) Gearge Carland said it best "Why is it that everybody that is going slower than you is an a$$hole and everybody going faster is crazy?"
    2. people that get right behind you on a 3 lane highweay when there is nobody else around....I like to have fun with these people...I either start slowly speeding up and then slowly slowing down just to see how long I can drive their car....or I like to swirch lanes and slowly drive circles around them.....ok ok I know it's childish...LOL

Illinois has implemented new laws that make it easier for law enforcement to ticket people for driving in the left lanes of traffic. It is a huge problem, and I've actually heard about enforcement of that law in both IL and WI, (I beleive they did it around the same time.) It's made my life a little easier I can say that. I really hate the idiots that pass me at 80+ mph and then cut me off, only to see a cop and then slam on their brakes nearly sending me into the ditch. Maybe if they were going the speed I was going... grr i better stop i'm getting a-n-g-r-y!

my philosophy while driving on a highway is "just don't slow me down". I gladly move out of the way of folks trying to get past me, as apparently they have to get somewhere faster than I do - no problem. But what I don't like is when someone goes 55 in the "fast lane" and refuses to move over. Worse, they'll keep tapping their brakes. These are usually unstable people that are a bigger potential saftey hazards than your straight-line fast drivers just trying to get from point A to point b.
