I just had to have a dealer replace the Invertor Pump & the 12 volt battery yesterday.

I was stranded in a little Northern California town 500 miles from home.

    Inverter Pump - $139.58
    Battery - $194.18
    Labor for Diagnosis - $135.00
    Labor for pump - $270.00
    Labor for Battery - $92.00.

    - Parts total - $333.76
    - Labor total - $497.00
    Grand Total - $830.76 + sales tax

How does this compare to anybody else's experience with those types of repairs? I was floored when they told me how much I was getting charged.

If you were under 60k miles the inverter coolant pump and related diagnosis and labor should be covered by the hybrid system warranty. A failed pump would affect the inverter which in turn may possibly have killed the 12V battery. I don't know how Toyota might treat that.

The amounts look about right. These parts are not cheap, and dealer labor never was.

Yeah, my car has 127,000 miles on it...so no warranty coverage.

I actually just bought it 3 weeks ago from my company. We have a fleet of about 20 hybrid vehicles & I just happened to be in the market for a new personal commuter when the last driver of this car got canned.

It doesn't surprise me that the unit went out when it did....I was just surprised by the labor costs.

    Thanks for the replies!
