Does anyone else notice that while driving the 2010 Prius 3, traffic lights do not change. I have a traffic light that has a loop detector that does not seem to sense the Prius.

On my bicycle, I can never trip those darn things. But I haven't had that problem in the Prius. Sounds like they need to turn up the sensitivity on the detector at that light.

Sometimes the loops are broken. Try a different lane (I know, hard if you are turning)
    .
When a broken loop is detected the lights are put on a default pattern until repaired.
Also if you approach the intersection from a side street at a main road you might have a longer delay before the light changes.

If a motorcycle fails to trip the light, try putting your side stand down on the loop.

We only have one traffic light in the county, and it's not smart. Otherwise I would be happy to try it for you. ;)

The Prius is no different than any other car, most likely it is a defective detector loop.

No problem here--there's one for a left turn signal on my way home and it works every time.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll try reporting that traffic light.

I'm jealous. My town puts traffic lights all over the place. It's pretty hard to go more than a mile without hitting a light.

About the only place we don't have them is parking lots. Wouldn't surprise me that's next.

Even my Smart ForTwo (lots of plastic) triggers lights without problems.

We have a couple of flashing traffic signals in our village, but the nearest "stop" light is 25 miles away, right at the edge of the county. It's in a suburb of the only "big" city in the area, Traverse City, which has a population of a little less than 15,000. Our flashing signals are on a state highway that runs through town. It's two lanes, and has a speed limit of 25. We have to drive for an hour and a half to get to a divided highway.

It used to be that we had no chain fast food restaurants in the county, but we now have two Subways. It could be the camel's nose under the tent.

I go through 40, that is no exaggeration, 40 sets of traffic lights each way to and from work.

Adelaide is a small city compared to all other mainland state capitals. I'm sure the government planners all remember the day Adelaide became all grown up and we got our first traffic lights. now we are geriatric and have thousands of the <add swear word> things!!!!
