I have been keeping Toyota Customer Relations aware of this whole nightmare. I have forwarded them copies of my costs to date, including the $50 I just paid to have the clear bra applied to the new headlights, like my original headlights had. I have been informed by Toyota Customer Relations they are going to pay me for the headlight bulb problems. Yesterday I sent Customer Relations a copy of the clear bra invoice. I will try to keep you all advised.

Wow. I just bought a 2008 Prius thursday. 12k miles on it. It does have HID. This issue is going to be in the back of my mind from now on. Glad to hear they finally corrected their errors though.

I can't help but get upset when I think about how Dublin Toyota's Service Manager talked to me and told me my headlights were never removed from my car because they don't remove the lights to change the bulbs. Even his own asst. service manager told me that was incorrect and the lights had to come out of the car for bulbs to be changed.

Dublin Toyota is in a nice new facility, it was built for Dublin Ford which went out of business about 3 years later. I get the feeling when I am at Dublin Toyota all they are doing is trying to pay for that facility as quickly as possible at the uninformed customer's expense.

I can only compare my experience between Dublin Toyota and Toyota 101 in Redwood City. Toyota 101 has been terrific, to the point of when I took my car in for the water pump and drive belt which Dublin Toyota wanted $870 for and Toyota 101 did for $553, they also asked me what kind of car I preferred to drive while my car was in their shop for the day...I asked for and received a 2010 Prius. So, my money will be going to Toyota 101 in the future. When it is time to buy a 2010 or 2011 Prius I hope to buy it from them.

You always have the venue of small claims court to recover any costs. $75 filing fee for damages up to $7500.

The dealer will NOT want a formal judgement against them. They will often try to settle on the eve of the court date. At that point, I'd refuse and go to court and get it in black and white from the judge. You have photos and clear proof the units were changed. Easy victory.

So Toyota Customer Relations sent me a check for the HID bulbs I have paid to have replaced; the check was for $734.04. So that addresses the money I paid out to keep my headlights working. Thank you Toyota Customer Relations. I have yet to hear from Dublin Toyota's GM or owner following the letter which I sent to them re what I went through.

So :cheer2: for Toyota Customer Relations for doing the right things so far. I would like to see them follow up some how with Dublin Toyota about their treatment of customers.
