Hi everyone. I'm going to be getting my '05 here pretty soon. I would have never thought I would own a Prius...not because I didn't want one, I just didn't think I'd have the money and the situation would present itself.

So I'm getting a black '05 with 55,000 miles on it. The dealer checked it out and it's in great shape.

I haven't even picked the car up yet, and my dad is already telling me that "Obama made (me) buy it."

I guess welcome to the club, eh? :)

    Welcome Eric:

When gas goes over $4 a gallon, your dad will probably be asking you if he can borrow your Prius. :)

Oh yeah.... I've been offered "O" bumper stickers by smart alecks that imply a prius means you must be a liberal who voted for Obama. To heck with politics, I vote for 50 MPG :)

That's why I bought one in '07, the same day my BMW arrived. Now I'm thinking about the 2010 Prius due to the rumored refinements and better gas mileage. My '07 would miss each time I made a sharp right turn and it was quite noisy under acceleration.:D

But fuel economy, as an aspect of energy policy, *is* political. Politics is more than who runs for President.

I am a Prius owner, but I am far from the liberal side of politics. I have a "NObama '08" static cling sticker on the back window, but it hard to see with the tinting. What I need is a bumper sticker that says "I drive this for the gas mileage, not the politics" I know that gas prices are political, but I want to make it clear that I am not endorsing Obama.

Politics aside, one reason to drive a Prius is that it is untouched by UAW hands..............

    Reasons I drive a Prius:

    1. 50 MPG average, such an improvement over 25 with my old Volvo wagon. I have a daily commute of 65 miles or so. This is an important thing.

    2. Nifty engineering. Seriously, I don't know how many people worked on this or for how long, but they did a very fine job.

    3. Nerd factor. I am a huge fan of assimilating new technology (Insert Borg joke here).

Hmm. None of those reasons seems to be political.

I bought a Prius because it was the coolest car on the market. I was able to convince my wife by mentioning how fuel efficient it was.

I considered getting a Tesla but I changed my mind after seeing Top Gear episode where they had numerous technical difficulties on the track. I probably couldn't convince my wife either if I wanted it.

    I'm a nerd.

I work in IT. The job is mostly relaxing and I goof off a lot at work, but sometimes I have to work long hours and things get super busy. I believe that goofing off is quite important to do the job well.

I drink Starbucks on occasion. But I usually make my own coffee at home. French press. I also drink tea. I like Yorkshire Gold, with milk. And I love Diet Coke.

I'm a registered Democrat and I love Obama. I vote, but I'm not an active participant. It's probably a good thing because I would have probably lost votes for him.

I'm socially awkward. But my wife understands me. We have 2 little kids and another on the way.

I have come to hate spectator sports in recent years, but I was capable of enjoying them in the past. My least favorite thing about sports? The fans.

I am concerned about Global Warming. But I don't quite know what to do about it.

I sometimes worry that the new Prius looks a bit too much like the famous Pontiac Aztek.

I loved South Park Smug episode.

I love the idea of trade unions, and worker solidarity. But in practice, not so much.

No. But I watched a lot of Monty Python. I just like the taste. I once worked with a guy from Leeds and he approved of my choice of tea.

Welcome to the club indeed. :welcome:

In my case, President Bush made me do it. On January 20, 2004 he said in his State of the Union address:
And if you can't trust Bush Jr. then who can you trust? Don't answer that.
