Looks about as random and useful as determining which colors go where.

My car came with Yokohama Avid tires which I just replaced after 10,982 miles with Michelin Energy Saver AS tires, 195 X 65 X15.

I did notice that the Avid tires are wearing very well and one should expect 40,000 miles from these tires. Also I have run those tires and my new Michelins at 44 PSI, max sidewall pressure, on all 4 tires.

MPG with the Yoko Avid has been very good with calculated MPG for the life of the car at about 49 MPG.

Note: my wife drives the car most of the time when I drive it is nearly always over 50 MPG calculated.

It seem from our 60 miles of driving or so the new Michelins are perhaps having a 1 MPG to 1.5 MPG advantage over the Yoko Avid has I would expect as this tire is supposed to be the most fuel efficient tire in the world.

Also, one more thing before I sign off; I have been using max sidewall pressure on all my cars for years. My current 2003 VW Jetta Wagon TDI has Michelin S-8 tires with 51 Max sidewall pressure which I am currently running them.

I have about 45,000 miles and should get at least 7,000 to 10,000 more miles out of them. They are wearing normally and not in the center has people would have you believe when you run your tires at max sidewall pressure.

    This has been my expierence.

I just got mine today and she came with the Yokohama Avids also. My dealer threw in the wheel center caps for free but they were not in stock. I go back Wed for them.

Prius IV - Yokohama Avid S33

Wouldn't it also be useful to know what the manufacture date on the car is- and what plant it was made at (assuming that they have more than one plant!)??? Seems then you could have additional data to sort by. My hunch is that they just get a bunch of tires in from different suppliers and just work their way through them...so I'll go out on a limb and say that if you were to compare them by manufacture date that you'd probably see some kind of pattern?
