Yes you can convert to hid. I did it on my 07 FJ with DRL. You will have to locate the DRL relay and disable it. I simply disconnected myne. Cheers.

I found there is no need to disable the DRLs when putting HIDs on the Canadian 2010 Prius. The DRLs run on the separate high beam circuit/bulb so I was able to simply replace the low beam bulbs with the HID kit. See my thread here...

I was just going back now that I have some time and was going to order a 4300K HID kit. I planned to use Waterproof and Shockproof HID Lighting for the Agriculture Community - An HID resource for your farming needs! like hawkmoon77 but when going back today to order, I see that they are no longer selling HID kits. I followed a link from their site that pointed me to this: H11 HID Kits - Home The price looks good but I'm a little skeptical (if it sounds too good it probably is). Any suggestions on where to buy. My one requirement is the battery harness.

I finally got around to installing My HID's bought from hid-sin.com . I got the 4300K Genisis kit. Easy install and looks great. The cutoff looks the same as halogen which is good so we don't blind oncoming cars.

About the legal or not for putting HID on low beam, I don't think we are just being cheap (at lease not me). I paid $32,000 for my car and it wasn't my fault that they don't have HID or LED option for my Prius III just because I want the Solar Roof more than the AT package. I felt like I am forced to commit a crime right now because I didn't have a choice. I understand some people did put the HID without the proper leveling and blind the other drivers around them but don't assume all of us will do it. And believe me, I am pretty sure most of us know it is illegal but thanks for reminding us.

$32,000 - OUCH. I agree I wish I could have picked exactly which options I wanted or didn't. LED headlights would have been on the list.

I installed the HID kit bought from my brother's friend. We did test the ballast and bulb on the other car and it works fine. But some how when we put it on the Prius III, it only blink for a sec and then it is off. The kit I got is the direct plug in from the original harness and not the one with Relay and get power from the fuzebox. Will that be the reason? My brother said some car does have a chip to detect the Voltage, if it is not the right voltage the lights will not turn on. He said his MB C230 has that function, does Prius also got something like that?

We also own a 2010 and would be interested in upgrading to a better headlamp. Seems, especially on the low beams, I drive ahead of them when going 55 mph. Was going to have them adjusted up at the dealership, if possible, but wonder if we would be happier to just change them out for HIDs, which we had on our 2009. Any suggestions? Where are the upgraded HIDs available? Should I contact the dealership? or do it myself? Thanks in advance.

HPTSANG, the polarity is worng. All you need to do is reverse the plug at the ballast. I had the same symptoms and switching the plug solved it.

DETER50, as far as HID aftermarket, you are on your own. The dealer won't be able to help you because it is an illegal upgrade.

I think I'm going to try H9 bulbs this week to see how they compare to the HID's I have installed right now. I'll report back.

Thanks for the reply. I will let my brother know and ask him to try your method and see will it fix the problem.

I told my brother about it, but he doesn't really mean what you mean reverse the plug at the ballast. Can you explain a little bit more or with some photo please?

I had problems with a bulb I bought from XenonEmpire.com (aka HID-SIN.com) and they would not respond to emails. I was not very impressed with the kit from the begining. The bulbs although bright and white (4300K) had a very very pronounced blue border that haloed the whole projection. This experience actually had me switch back to Halogens. To get brighter lights I installed some H9 bulbs that were nice and bright but still too yellow.

After talking with the guys at KBCarStuff.com I purchased a kit through them. The difference is night and day between the two kits. Nothing but pure white light.

Since MobileHID no longer sell to automobile, can anyone tell me where can I get the same kit elsewhere? If not, what is the next best kit these day? coolbulb? I want a true "plug and play" and no mess around stock wires. Thanks for your advice in advance.
