Is there anyway to adjust the volume of the ring in my car when I get a call. The bluetooth works great but every time I get a call and it rings through the radio, I jump out of my seat! I would like to turn down the volume of the ring without lowering the radio itself.

Wow, I just came over to ask this same exact question after getting startled by a call over the weekend. The ringer is way too loud. And it clearly is not dependent on the radio volume because mine was turned all of way down at the time.

posted elsewhere if you search, but for non-NAV, just adjust the volume with the steering wheel switches when it is ringing. Adjusts speaker volume, stays where you set it.

yea, I haven't checked on purpose but I think the volumes adjust independent of each modes. In other words, I think you can turn the phone volume down by turning it down on the steering wheel while in call and when you go back to your radio or CD, the volume will still be remembered for that mode of playing too to keep them all separate.

FYI... you can go into the hidden menu and adjust bluetooth volumes too... but I don't think thats necessary.

LOL!.... have someone call you and adjust the volume with your steering volume.
I think it should remember it.

You should be able to independently adjust for Radio too without affecting what you did for the phone.

I tried turning the volume down while ringing...which worked, but the radio volume also lowered once the call was over. Oh well...

If thats the case and the phone volume was "consistently" high or low, you could adjust it in the hidden menu.. but I wouldn't think that would be the case since radios get turned very high to very low and phone volumes are more even keel "since the radio volume mutes during a call".

Yeah, I couldn't find the "hidden" menu though. I don't have Nav.

This did not work for me at all. Does it work for a non-Nav Prius? That ring sends me through the roof as well, when it happens.

Dave do you listen to your radio really loud so that when you turn the car off it was left on high volume?
And if so, seems the radio would make you jump too when you first turn the car on!

I know it does for me.... so I try to not leave the radio on loud because I know the next time I get in the car its probrably after a full nights sleep and I"m half awake!

Nope. There does not seem to be any relationship to the volume I set on the radio and the volume of the ringing. The ringing is always very loud, no matter where the volume level of my radio is set.

I have the JBL/Bluetooth setup that I think is standard in the Prius III. I wish I knew how to change that ring level. First time my wife is riding with me and a call comes through, she will jump through the roof of the car, I'm quite sure.

Have you tried to adjust the phone ringing volume "while" its ringing?

For some reason, I was thinking it would remember and be that setting then next time from then on regardless of setting it to other volume levels for other functions.

Yep. I tried that very thing while driving home from work this afternoon. I had read this thread, and when a call came in, I used the pushbuttons on the steering wheel to try to change the volume of the ring before I picked up. Nothing changed, as far as I could tell.

I would talk to your dealer and see if thier prius specialist has any ideas, otherwise you may have a problem.

So it DID work for me. I thought the radio volume went low when I turned my phone ringer down (by pushing the volume "-" on the steering wheel). The first time, it seemed the radio turned down as well, but yesterday the phone rang...the volume was low (yay!) and then when I was done the radio was at it's correct volume!! I am SOOOOO happy to have this working!! Thanks all!!

I'll try it again. Maybe I did something wrong.

So the drill is simply to use the steering wheel volume controls while the phone is ringing, right? Nothing else I have to do?

Awesome!... I think some of these electronics are a bit like configuring bluetooth..... sometimes it takes a couple of shots at it before either you do it in the "exact" sequence it likes or conditions are right.

Like memory threads.. the more you have the easier it is to remember something... they need to build these cutting edge electronics the same way.. so they work several different ways if there is not going to be one common easy way to do it.

If it didn't work.. I would try it again.. maybe this time.... let it ring a few times before you try it etc.... you know how bluetooth is..... it takes a ring or two before everything seems to be connected as if everything doesn't come together all at the same time......

Hopefully I explained what I was trying to say?

Yes, I get it, Alan. You're right about these BT things. Maybe I moved too quick.
